The WAINLUX K8 is a compact, enclosed diode laser engraver with a manufacturer-stated 130 × 130 mm work area and three listed laser options: 2.5W, 5W and 10W. It may suit small items and compact projects, but the right version depends on the material and cutting depth you need. WAINLUX’s cutting figures are claims, not independently verified results; this review assesses the published specifications rather than hands-on performance.
What the WAINLUX K8 offers
WAINLUX lists the K8 with a 2.5W, 5W or 10W laser module. The manufacturer specifies a 130 × 130 mm engraving area, a platform adjustable by 100 mm, a maximum speed of 15,000 mm/min and engraving precision of 0.01 mm. These are published specifications, not independent measurements.
The listed maximum object size is described as either 220 × 170 mm or 190 × 190 mm. Because those dimensions differ from the stated engraving area and are presented as alternative shapes, check the dimensions and orientation supported by the exact product configuration before buying. The engraving area is the more useful figure for judging whether a design will fit.

Which K8 laser power should you choose?
The 10W module has the strongest stated cutting capacities, while the 2.5W option is aimed at thinner stock. WAINLUX’s figures below are vendor claims; the company’s page does not provide independent tests. Material composition, focus, speed, power settings and pass count can all affect the result.

Do not treat a claimed maximum thickness as a guaranteed one-pass cut or assume the same result across all plywood or pine. If cutting is central to your work, ask the seller about the exact module and test material, and plan for settings and passes to require adjustment.

What can the WAINLUX K8 engrave?
WAINLUX lists paper, wood, leather, cloth, cardboard, stone, ceramic, stainless steel and coated metal among the materials the K8 can engrave. That list describes the manufacturer’s stated range; it does not mean every finish or material will mark in the same way. In particular, the listing names coated metal, not a universal ability to engrave bare metal. Confirm suitability for the specific material and finish you intend to use.

Software, camera and positioning
The K8 product page advertises an onboard 2MP camera for locating an object, but WAINLUX says camera use currently supports PC with CutLabX. Do not assume that camera positioning works on Mac, Linux, mobile devices or with other software. Check the current software support for your operating system and workflow before purchase.
The available product information does not confirm LightBurn compatibility. If LightBurn is essential, obtain confirmation for the specific K8 version and operating system from WAINLUX or the seller rather than inferring support from the machine’s other software features.

Enclosure and safety claims
WAINLUX describes the K8 as fully enclosed, with Hall-sensor door protection and viewing windows it says filter 99.7% of blue light. The manufacturer says the machine stops when a door opens. These are design and performance claims from WAINLUX, not an independent safety certification or a guarantee that operation is risk-free.

WAINLUX also describes a professional mode that permits the side doors to be open for rotary use. That exception matters: do not assume the door-interlock behavior is identical in every operating mode. Follow the current manual and safety instructions for the selected configuration, and account for smoke and dust when choosing where and how to operate the machine.

Accessories and package contents
WAINLUX lists the R1 rotary roller as compatible with the K8 and says a rotary axis can handle cylindrical objects up to 75 mm in diameter. The company also markets the MD22 Mini Purifier for the K8. Neither accessory should be presumed to come in the box: verify the contents of the exact bundle or listing before ordering.
A purifier is an optional external accessory according to the product information. Check what filtration and operating guidance apply to the specific purifier and materials you plan to use; the K8’s enclosure alone should not be treated as a substitute for appropriate smoke and dust management.
Verdict: who should consider the K8?
The K8 is most compelling for buyers whose projects fit within a 130 × 130 mm area and who can choose a laser module around their intended work. WAINLUX’s published claims distinguish the 2.5W, 5W and 10W models by cutting thickness, but they do not establish independently verified real-world results. The camera’s stated PC-and-CutLabX limitation, the need to confirm accessory bundles, and the unresolved LightBurn question are practical buying checks—not minor details to discover after purchase.
