The app behind the Android Auto radio story is VRadio – Online Radio App. Its Google Play listing and developer site say it supports Android Auto and offers access to a large worldwide station directory—but the exact station count is the developer’s claim, not an independently verified total.
What is VRadio?
VRadio is an internet radio app from developer Voulimiotis Ioannis. Google Play describes it as providing access to tens of thousands of stations around the world, while the developer’s site advertises over 30,000. What does the app offer beyond station playback?
The Google Play listing describes station categories, favorites and folders, song information when a station supplies it, and the option to add a custom station if you know its streaming URL. It also lists recording, Chromecast and UPnP/DLNA casting, a five-band equalizer, alarms, scheduled recording or playback, a sleep timer, widgets, and data-use measurement. These are listing claims; feature availability can vary by platform and app version.
What should you know before switching from local radio?
- It depends on internet access. Internet radio streams need connectivity, unlike broadcast reception. The listing’s data-use measurement may help monitor consumption, but it does not make streaming offline.
- The directory size is not a guarantee of local coverage. VRadio advertises a broad international selection, but the sources do not establish which particular station is available, how reliably it streams, or whether every station’s stream remains active.
- Song information depends on the station. The listing says metadata is available when stations support it, so track details may not appear for every stream.
