Volonaut presents the Airbike as a single-seat, jet-powered personal aircraft—not a motorcycle that can be ridden on roads. Its published figures include a 30 kg empty mass and up to 10 minutes of flight time, but the company’s page gives conflicting top speeds. And even if it qualifies as a U.S. ultralight, federal rules prohibit flying over congested areas, which undercuts the idea of using it for ordinary city commuting.
What is the Volonaut Airbike?
Volonaut describes the Airbike as a single-seat flying vehicle with redundant jet turbines, a carbon-fiber design, and a fully redundant flight-computer stabilization system. The company calls it a “futuristic single seat vehicle” and a personal hoverbike. These are manufacturer descriptions; they do not establish independent testing, certification, or delivery availability. Volonaut Airbike specifications Volonaut homepage
Despite the motorbike label, the Airbike is presented as an aircraft. Its ability to fly does not make it a road vehicle or show that it can operate safely or legally among normal city traffic.

| Specification | Volonaut-published figure |
|---|---|
| Empty mass | 30 kg (66 lb) |
| Maximum pilot mass | 95 kg (209 lb) |
| Top speed | 102 km/h (63 mph) in the technical specifications |
| Maximum flight time | 10 minutes |
| Listed fuel types | Diesel, biodiesel, Jet-A1, and kerosene |
| Refueling time | Under one minute |
These figures are claims on the manufacturer’s product page, not results from an independent test. The page does not establish usable range, how much flight time remains for a safe reserve, or performance in ordinary urban conditions.
How fast does the Volonaut Airbike go?
Volonaut’s page is inconsistent: promotional copy claims speeds up to 124 mph, while its technical specifications list a top speed of 102 km/h (63 mph). Those figures do not agree. The technical-table value is the clearest stated specification, but neither figure should be treated as independently verified performance.

Is the Airbike real, and can it fly?
Volonaut states on its homepage, “Yes, it flies,” and provides public-facing flight material. That supports describing the Airbike as a flying-vehicle concept presented by its manufacturer; it does not, by itself, substantiate complete flight-test results, independent verification, or certification. 1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDo you need a pilot’s license to fly it in the United States?
Volonaut says the Airbike complies with FAA ultralight rules and that no U.S. license is required. That is the company’s claim, not an independently confirmed finding that the Airbike meets every applicable requirement. Under current U.S. Part 103 rules, a qualifying ultralight is a single-occupant vehicle used for recreation or sport and operated without an airworthiness certificate. A powered ultralight must meet all the applicable limits, including:

Part 103 also sets operating rules. For example, it prohibits operation over a congested area of a city, town, or settlement, and requires prior air traffic control authorization in specified controlled airspace. A company statement about a license therefore does not mean unrestricted access to airspace or permission to fly wherever a rider chooses. See the current Part 103 regulations; the eCFR states Title 14 was up to date as of October 6, 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Airbike practical for urban commuting?
The available published information does not establish that it is. Volonaut lists a maximum flight time of 10 minutes, but does not provide a verified usable range or reserve policy. More fundamentally, U.S. Part 103’s restriction on flying over congested areas conflicts with the usual meaning of point-to-point urban commuting. Actual operation would also depend on the vehicle meeting the relevant rules and on where it is flown.

The manufacturer’s public material does not establish routine city operation, independent safety evidence, or the training and support a pilot would need.
Can you preorder one, and what does it cost?
Volonaut’s site links to a reservation or preorder route. The reviewed public product and homepage material does not establish a current price, deposit terms, delivery schedule, or whether production units are available. A reservation link alone is not confirmation that a customer can buy and receive an Airbike on stated terms. Check the current transaction documents directly with Volonaut before treating a reservation as a purchase commitment. Volonaut homepage
