Vodafone’s UK mobile service gets a mixed report card: Ofcom’s 2024 customer survey found below-average overall satisfaction, while its Q1 2026 data put Vodafone among the least complained-about pay-monthly mobile providers. Those figures measure different things, so neither is a verdict on the signal or support you will get. Check coverage where you actually use your phone, then weigh the survey and complaint data in context.
What Vodafone customers say—and what the evidence can establish
Online comments about Vodafone range from complaints about “terrible coverage” and “worst customer service” to accounts of a “good experience with Vodafone.” These are titles of individual Reddit posts, not a representative sample. They show the range of experiences people report, but cannot establish how common any one experience is.
For a broader view, Ofcom’s measures are more useful when kept in their proper categories: its customer survey measures reported satisfaction, its complaint tables count complaints reaching the regulator relative to customer numbers, and its coverage checker presents predicted signal. None measures every aspect of an individual customer’s experience.

Customer satisfaction was below the sector average
In Ofcom’s 2024 customer research, published in 2025, 84% of surveyed Vodafone mobile customers said they were satisfied overall, compared with an 89% average for mobile providers. This is survey satisfaction from the 2024 research wave, not a 2026 satisfaction score.

First-contact complaint resolution was close to, but below, average
In the same survey, 54% of Vodafone mobile customers who had complained said their complaint was completely resolved at first contact. The mobile-provider average was 57%. Vodafone’s result had risen since the 2022 research wave, but remained below the reported average.
Why Vodafone’s complaint ranking looks different
Ofcom’s Q1 2026 complaint report placed Vodafone among the least complained-about pay-monthly mobile providers. The measure is complaints Ofcom received relative to providers’ customer bases; it is not a customer satisfaction rating. It does not count every customer who is unhappy, complaints made only to Vodafone, or service problems that never become a formal complaint to Ofcom.

There is no contradiction between this ranking and the lower satisfaction score. The survey and the complaint table use different methods, populations and measures, and the survey reflects 2024 while the complaint snapshot is from Q1 2026. Read them as separate signals rather than combining them into a single score.
Keep Vodafone broadband feedback separate from mobile reviews
Ofcom’s Q4 2025 report placed Vodafone among the most complained-about fixed broadband providers, with complaints per 100,000 customers increasing from the previous quarter. That finding concerns home broadband, not Vodafone’s mobile phone service. In the 2024 customer survey, 51% of Vodafone broadband complainants said their complaint was completely resolved at first contact, versus a 44% broadband average. These broadband figures should not be used as a mobile-service score.

Will Vodafone signal work where you use your phone?
Check the Ofcom mobile coverage checker for your home, workplace and regular routes. Ofcom explains that “The mobile coverage map is based on coverage predictions from the mobile network operators.” Its estimates are processed over 50m-by-50m cells, so a map result is useful for comparing locations but cannot guarantee signal in a particular room or at a particular moment.
Buildings, hills, trees and seasonal foliage can affect reception. Your handset’s capabilities and network loading can also change the experience. A location shown as covered may still perform poorly indoors or at busy times. Ofcom notes that Wi-Fi calling and repeaters may help in some indoor-coverage situations; whether either is available or suitable depends on the circumstances.

How to compare Vodafone with another mobile provider
- Check your real locations. Compare the Ofcom checker for your home, work and regular routes, rather than judging by a national coverage claim.
- Check your handset and usage. Consider device capability and whether you need dependable indoor service, service on particular routes, or capacity at busy times.
- Compare like with like. Use mobile satisfaction figures against the mobile-sector average and note the survey year. Compare regulator complaints for the same quarter and service type.
- Check the terms before switching. Compare the total plan price, allowances and contract terms directly at the time you choose; these can change.
Vodafone also publishes network-performance claims of its own. Its speed claim is based on a NET CHECK benchmark measuring three UK networks in June and July 2026, and Vodafone says the claim is valid until April 2027. Its approximate mast counts are based on publicly available crowdsourced data and are dated 9 June 2026. These are Vodafone’s claims, not an independent measure of every customer’s coverage or a complete service ranking.
What to do if you have a Vodafone complaint
Contact Vodafone first and keep a record of the issue, dates, any relevant account details and the response. Vodafone lists 191 as free from a Vodafone mobile, or 0333 304 0191 from another phone. Check Vodafone’s current complaints information before calling, as contact details and eligibility can change.

Vodafone’s complaint code directs eligible unresolved communications and internet complaints to CISAS, an independent Ofcom-approved dispute-resolution scheme. Complaints about financial products, including device-plan loan agreements or insurance, follow a different route through the Financial Ombudsman Service. Check the relevant scheme’s eligibility rules before escalating.
