To reset a Vizio Smart TV’s Wi-Fi connection, open Menu > Network, select the saved wireless network, choose Forget, then select it again and enter its password. Run Test Connection if your model offers it. Menu labels vary by model; a factory-default reset is a much broader step and should be a last resort.
Reset a saved Wi-Fi connection
On Vizio models with the documented controls, forgetting the saved access point removes its stored connection details so you can connect again with the current password. The 2022 D4 Series manual documents this sequence:
- Press the remote’s Menu button and open Network.
- Highlight the saved wireless access point and press OK.
- Choose Forget.
- Select the same Wi-Fi network from the available networks, enter its password, and connect.
- Return to Menu > Network and select Test Connection, if available, to check the TV’s connection.
Vizio’s support page provides model manuals if your TV’s menus do not match these labels.

Check whether the problem is the TV or the network
Before changing more TV settings, check whether another phone, computer, or device can access the internet through the same home network. Vizio’s Ethernet Network Troubleshooting v3.0.1 directs users to contact their internet service provider or router manufacturer when other devices also cannot connect.

Troubleshoot an Ethernet connection
If the TV is wired to the router, forgetting a Wi-Fi network will not resolve the Ethernet connection. Check the wired setup instead:
- Check that the TV’s network setup is using DHCP, as covered in Vizio’s Ethernet troubleshooting guide.
- Test the Ethernet cable with another device. If that device also fails to connect, try a different cable.
- If the cable works with another device but the TV still cannot connect, continue with Vizio’s model-specific troubleshooting and support options.
Use factory reset only as a last resort
Vizio’s Ethernet troubleshooting guide recommends Clear Memory or Clean Storage, when available, only if earlier troubleshooting does not fix the issue. The guide states, “This will reset the TV back to factory defaults.” That is not a network-only reset: the TV will require first-time setup again. The guide does not establish one menu path that applies to every model, so consult your TV’s manual for the correct controls before proceeding.

Why your Vizio menu may look different
Network controls vary across model generations. The 2022 D4 Series manual lists Forget, Test Connection, Manual Setup, and Network Information. The older P702ui-B3 manual uses labels including Wireless Access Points and More Access Points. If your TV lacks the steps above, use its model-specific manual rather than assuming a setting is missing.

Find the correct manual or support option
Use Vizio’s support page to find user manuals and other model help. The Vizio mobile app’s connection depends on the phone and TV being on the same Wi-Fi network, so it cannot replace restoring the TV’s network connection.
