For buyers in India, the realme 16 5G lists a larger 7,000mAh battery and a 50MP front camera, while the vivo Y400 5G lists faster 90W charging and documented IP68/IP69 protection. Both have FHD+ AMOLED displays with up to 120Hz refresh rates and 50MP+2MP rear cameras. The cited 8GB/128GB prices are each ₹31,999, but they come from different dates and sources, so they do not establish which phone is cheaper today.

Specifications are from the vivo India product/store listing and realme India specifications, accessed in 2026. They describe listed hardware, not comparative test results.
How the displays and processors compare
Display
Both phones list FHD+ AMOLED displays and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The vivo screen is listed at 6.67 inches; realme gives its diagonal as 16.69cm. The vivo listing specifies 2400 × 1080 resolution, compared with 2372 × 1080 for realme.
Processor
The Y400 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, while the realme 16 lists MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 Turbo. The specification pages do not provide benchmark results or measured everyday-performance comparisons, so the chipset names alone do not establish a performance winner.

Battery capacity versus charging power
realme lists a 7,000mAh typical battery and 60W fast charging. vivo lists a 6,000mAh typical battery and 90W charging. That makes the realme’s stated capacity higher and the vivo’s charging rating higher; neither difference, by itself, establishes actual battery runtime or how long a full charge takes. Those outcomes require comparable testing under the same conditions.
Camera specifications are not image-quality results
Both phones list two rear cameras with 50MP and 2MP sensors. realme identifies its rear cameras as 50MP wide and 2MP monochrome; vivo lists 50MP + 2MP. For selfies, realme lists 50MP and vivo lists 32MP. Higher megapixel counts do not alone determine photo quality, and the cited specifications do not provide comparative camera tests.

Weight, storage and protection
Weight and storage
The realme 16 is listed at about 183g. vivo gives color-dependent Y400 weights of 197g or 198g. For storage, both brands list 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations; realme also lists a 12GB/256GB option.
Water and dust protection
vivo states that the Y400 has IP68 and IP69 protection. Its guidance says the rating depends on specified test conditions; resistance can decline through normal wear, and liquid ingress damage is not covered by warranty. vivo limits underwater use to fresh water, up to 2 metres deep, for no more than 30 minutes per use. The cited realme specification page does not establish a water-resistance rating, so a direct protection comparison cannot be made from these sources. See vivo’s product information for its conditions and warnings.

Which phone fits your priorities?
- Consider the realme 16 5G if its larger listed battery capacity, 50MP front camera, lower stated weight or 12GB/256GB configuration is more relevant to you.
- Consider the vivo Y400 5G if its higher listed charging power or explicitly documented IP68/IP69 protection is more important.
- For display and rear-camera headline specifications, the two share the broad combination of a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display and 50MP+2MP rear cameras, with some resolution and camera-type details differing.
- For performance or photo quality, these specification sheets are not enough to identify a winner; look for comparable independent tests of the exact models.
