The vivo V50 is worth considering if you want a slim midrange phone with a large 6,000mAh battery, fast 90W wired charging, and strong portrait and selfie cameras. It is a refinement of the V40 rather than a clear performance upgrade, and whether it is good value depends on the price you can get today. This review covers the India-market model, explains where the trade-offs sit, and ends with a clear verdict.

The specifications below are taken from vivo India’s official product page, which was accessed on 7 October 2026. The review scores and test results come from launch-period reviews published in February 2025, so they describe the phone as it was tested at launch. Pros
- Slim, polished design. The body is thin for a phone with a 6,000mAh battery, and reviewers consistently praise how it looks and feels in hand.
- A bright, high-refresh display. The 120Hz AMOLED panel is a strength in every review we consulted, with 91mobiles citing a 4,500-nit peak brightness figure in its testing.
- Endurance and fast charging. The battery is large and the 90W wired charging is quick, which makes the phone easy to live with on heavy days.
- Water and dust resistance. vivo India lists IP68 and IP69 ratings, which is rare at this price point.
- Portrait and selfie strength. Independent reviewers rate the front camera and portrait modes highly.
Cons and caveats
- Not a performance step up from the V40. The V40 uses the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, so the V50 is not the choice for buyers who want faster benchmarks or better gaming.
- Uneven rear-camera detail. Fine detail can disappoint in some scenes, particularly from the ultrawide, and a high megapixel count does not guarantee sharper results.
- A lower display resolution than the V40. Digit lists this as a drawback, along with the absence of Dolby Vision support.
- Heavy gaming drains the battery faster than the battery size suggests. In 91mobiles’ gaming workload, the V50 used more battery than the OnePlus 13R.
- Launch prices may no longer apply. The prices reported in 2025 are historical, so the value case must be checked against today’s market.
Camera: strong for faces and portraits, weaker for fine rear detail
The camera hardware is generous on paper. Each of the three lenses is 50MP, and the main camera has optical image stabilisation. Results, however, vary by subject and lighting.
Main and ultrawide rear cameras
Digit found good daylight results from the main camera. In 91mobiles’ comparisons, the ultrawide and some rear portraits lost fine detail against competing phones. If you rely on the ultrawide for landscapes or architecture, compare samples directly before deciding. The V50 has no dedicated telephoto lens, so it is not the right choice if zoom matters to you.

Selfie and portrait photography
This is where the V50 is most convincing. Both Digit and 91mobiles praised selfie results and portrait features, making the phone a good fit for people who take a lot of photos of other people.
Low-light scenes
Digit reported noticeable oversharpening in low light, and 91mobiles described low-light performance as good in some scenes but not consistently strong. Night photography is an area where the V50 does not clearly lead its class.

Battery and charging: long endurance, but the numbers depend on the test
The 6,000mAh battery is the V50’s most reliable selling point. Two reviews measured endurance and charging with different methods, so their results should not be compared as one controlled test.

In 91mobiles’ automated test the V50 outlasted the OnePlus 13R, but in its gaming workload it drained more. Treat these figures as indications of what the battery can do under specific conditions, not as a promise of how long the phone will last on your daily use.

Performance and software
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in everyday use
91mobiles found everyday tasks smooth and reported stable performance under sustained loads. In raw benchmarks, however, it placed behind the OnePlus 13R. The chip suits browsing, messaging, streaming, camera work, and light gaming. It is not the choice if you want the highest peak performance, and the V50 does not change that picture compared with the V40.
Software updates
91mobiles reported a policy of three years of major Android updates and four years of security updates. That policy comes from a review, not from vivo’s own published guarantee, so check vivo’s current policy for your market before relying on it.

Price, availability and packaging
vivo announced an India starting price of INR 34,999 on 17 February 2025. Launch-period reviews listed the top 12GB + 512GB model at INR 40,999. Those are the only prices verified in the sources, and both are historical.

Verdict: who should buy the vivo V50
The V50 is a good choice if you take many selfies or portraits, want a thin phone with a long-lasting battery and fast charging, and value a bright, high-refresh screen with a water and dust rating. It is a sensible everyday phone at the right price.
Look elsewhere if you need the best performance, serious zoom, or consistently sharp rear detail in every scene. If you already own a V40, the V50 is a refinement rather than a reason to upgrade on performance alone. If the current price is close to the launch price or higher, compare it against other midrange phones with stronger processors or better ultrawide cameras before deciding.
