The vivo V40e is best suited to buyers who want a slim, light phone with a large curved 120Hz screen and long battery life. Its daylight main-camera and selfie results are useful strengths, but its low-light and ultrawide photography make it a poor pick for anyone choosing a phone mainly for cameras. The design and endurance are stronger reasons to buy than its portrait positioning.
What the vivo V40e offers
Launched in India in September 2024, the V40e pairs a 6.77-inch curved AMOLED display with a 5,500mAh battery and MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. It weighs 183g and is 7.49mm thick, making it relatively slim and light for a phone with this size screen and battery. vivo lists IP64 dust and water resistance; that rating is not a claim of waterproofing or immersion resistance.

How well does the V40e perform in everyday use?
In its hands-on review updated November 14, 2024, Gadgets 360 reported smooth ordinary use without major lag and said games ran decently at the settings it tested. The same review’s benchmark results trailed several similarly priced phones in most tests, so this is a reasonable everyday performer rather than a performance leader. Buyers who play demanding games or want the strongest speed for the money should compare current alternatives before choosing.

Is the display good for video and outdoor use?
The large 120Hz AMOLED screen is one of the V40e’s clearest strengths. Gadgets 360 found it bright enough for most conditions and well suited to video and games, while noting that direct sunlight could challenge visibility. The curved edges add to the phone’s appearance, but buyers who prefer a flat screen should try the shape in person if possible.
How good are the cameras?
The camera hardware combines a stabilized 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 50MP autofocus selfie camera. In Gadgets 360’s review, the main and front cameras produced good daylight photos. The review did not find the system consistently strong across conditions, and megapixel counts alone do not predict image quality.

Daylight and portraits
The main camera is the more dependable rear option in daylight. The reviewer found portrait edge detection could be better, despite the phone’s portrait-forward positioning. Aura Light was helpful for night portraits in the review, but that does not make the V40e a reliable choice for portrait-first buyers.
Low light and ultrawide
Low-light photography was a notable weakness, especially with the ultrawide and selfie cameras. Gadgets 360 observed color mismatch between the ultrawide and main camera, as well as blurry, watercolor-like ultrawide results in low light. If you regularly take wide group or night photos, compare sample images from the specific phones you are considering rather than relying on the V40e’s resolution figures.

How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
The 5,500mAh battery and charging up to 80W give the V40e a strong endurance proposition. Gadgets 360 reported more than a day of ordinary use and recorded over 32 hours in its HD video-loop test with the display set to 120Hz. That figure is the publication’s test result, not a guaranteed runtime; screen brightness, network conditions, apps, and usage affect real battery life. The reviewer said a full charge took about an hour using the included charger.
What are the software, durability, and storage trade-offs?
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 14 and Funtouch OS 14. vivo announced a commitment of three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patches in its September 2024 India launch announcement. That announcement does not establish which software build or security patch is installed on a particular handset now; check the device’s update screen and seller details before purchase. Gadgets 360 reported that removable third-party apps could be uninstalled, but also noted unwanted built-in apps and notifications.

Prices vary by date, variant, stock, and seller. vivo’s launch prices in India on September 25, 2024, were ₹28,999 for 8GB+128GB and ₹30,999 for 8GB+256GB; these are historical launch prices, not current quotes. On October 7, 2026, Gadgets 360 reported a lowest Amazon listing of ₹33,999, while vivo’s store displayed ₹35,999 for a selected 8GB+256GB variant that was marked unavailable on the page. The Gadgets 360 page’s variant figures conflict with its starting-price statement, so treat its Amazon figure as a dated listing rather than a universal market price. At its current asking price, compare live offers and alternatives on performance, camera consistency, battery and charging, screen shape, update commitment, and price. Gadgets 360’s review names the Nothing Phone 2a Plus for distinctive design and better performance, and the OnePlus Nord 4 for better cameras and substantially higher performance; their prices change, so check current listings before comparing value.
