The vivo V80 is a spec-sheet upgrade over the V40 in several areas, including its dedicated telephoto camera, larger listed battery, faster maximum display refresh rate and higher supported charging power. But as of 4 October 2026, the V80 had not yet launched in India: vivo announced its launch for 6 October, and its official India price was not stated in the sources reviewed. That means there is no confirmed price difference to report yet.
For context, vivo’s India store listed the V40 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at an MRP of ₹42,999, though that configuration was marked unavailable when checked. The comparison below uses vivo-listed specifications, not independent performance or camera tests.

These are manufacturer-listed specifications. vivo notes that actual charging varies with conditions; supported wattage alone does not establish charging time or battery life. The V80’s higher listed battery capacity likewise is not an independently measured endurance result.

What changes between the V40 and V80?
V80 adds a dedicated telephoto camera
The V40’s rear setup pairs a main camera with a wide-angle camera. The V80 adds a 50MP OIS telephoto camera alongside its 50MP OIS main camera and 8MP ultra-wide. vivo’s V80 product page highlights 3× optical zoom and 4K 60fps recording. This gives the V80 a more varied listed camera setup, but the specifications alone do not prove that its photos or videos are better in practice.

V80 has a larger battery; real-world endurance is unknown
vivo lists a typical capacity of 7200mAh for the V80 and 5500mAh for the V40. The V80 also lists 90W charging support versus 80W for the V40. Those figures indicate higher stated capacity and charging power, not a tested battery-life or charging-time advantage.
The display choice is size versus refresh rate
The V40 has the larger listed screen at 6.78 inches, compared with 6.59 inches on the V80. The V80’s panel is listed at up to 144Hz, while the V40 is listed at 120Hz. The V80 therefore offers the higher maximum refresh rate on paper, while the V40 offers more screen area by diagonal measurement.

The V80 uses a newer listed platform
The V80’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a newer generation than the V40’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. vivo also lists OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 for the V80, compared with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 for the V40. No independent benchmark comparison was reviewed, so these platform details should not be treated as proof of a particular speed or support advantage.
vivo V40 vs V80 price difference in India
A confirmed price gap is not available as of 4 October 2026. vivo’s official community account announced that the V80 would launch in India on 6 October 2026, but the official sources reviewed did not state its retail price. Do not treat unofficial expected or leaked figures as a confirmed price.

The V40’s ₹42,999 figure is its India-store MRP for the 8GB+256GB configuration, inclusive of taxes; that selected configuration was marked unavailable when checked. vivo also listed 8GB+128GB and 12GB+512GB configurations, but their current prices are not established here. A meaningful price comparison requires the V80’s confirmed price and a like-for-like RAM and storage configuration, as well as current stock.

Consider waiting for the V80 price if camera flexibility or battery capacity matters most
The V80’s listed telephoto camera, 7200mAh typical battery, up-to-144Hz display and 90W charging make it the more ambitious specification sheet in those areas. Whether those upgrades justify buying it depends on its confirmed India price, variant availability and real-world performance.

vivo lists 5G+5G dual-SIM dual-standby support and India-market bands for the V40. Actual service depends on the carrier, local network infrastructure and software. Check the exact India variant and your carrier’s supported bands before relying on 5G availability.

What comes in the V40 box?
vivo’s India store listing says the V40 box includes documentation, a Type-C cable, USB power adapter, SIM eject tool, case and pre-applied protective film. The V80’s box contents were not stated in the official details reviewed.
