The vivo V70 costs more, and the gap is clearest at the 8GB+256GB configuration: vivo India’s store listed the V40 at ₹42,999 and the V70 at ₹59,999 when prices were checked on 2026-10-07, a difference of ₹17,000. The V70 has the newer listed processor, a larger typical battery, faster charging, and a telephoto camera the V40 does not list. The V40 has the larger screen. Prices and stock on Indian storefronts can change, so treat these figures as a snapshot rather than a fixed price.

The table below uses the figures vivo lists on its official India product pages. These are manufacturer specifications. They show what each phone is built with, not how it performs in daily use.

Price by configuration
The two phones do not share the same memory options, so a single headline price difference would mislead. The table lists only the prices observed on vivo India’s official store pages on 2026-10-07.

The only like-for-like pair is 8GB+256GB, where the V70 is ₹17,000 higher than the V40 (₹59,999 minus ₹42,999). That figure is simple arithmetic on two listed prices, not a published price comparison. The V70’s two listed prices come from different vivo India pages, so the 12GB+256GB figure should not be compared directly with the V40’s 8GB+256GB price.

What the price gap buys, and what it does not
Display
The V40 has the larger panel at 6.78 inches against the V70’s 6.59 inches. The V40’s resolution is also higher on the listed figures, at 2800 × 1260 against 2750 × 1260. Readers who prioritise screen size get more on the V40, and the V70 gives up size without any other display upgrade being listed.
Processor
The V70 uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the newer generation in the listing, while the V40 uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. A generation change does not guarantee a specific speed gain in games, multitasking or battery life. Those depend on tuning, memory configuration and software, and this comparison does not measure them.

Cameras
Both phones list a 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera. The V70 adds a dedicated telephoto camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, while the V40 pairs its main camera with a 50MP wide-angle. A higher megapixel count does not establish better photos, and the feature labels say nothing about how the cameras compare in practice. Readers who want a telephoto lens will find it only on the V70.
Battery and charging
vivo lists the V70 with a 6500mAh typical battery and 90W charging, and the V40 with 5500mAh and 80W. These are manufacturer specifications, not measured screen-on time or charge duration. On paper, the V70 has more capacity and faster charging, but the listings do not show how long either phone lasts or how quickly it charges in real use.

Which phone fits which buyer
- Choose the V40 if a larger screen matters most and the 8GB+128GB configuration at ₹39,999 fits your budget.
- Choose the V70 if you want a telephoto camera, the higher listed battery capacity and faster charging, and the newer processor generation, and you can accept the higher price.
- Compare carefully if you are considering the 12GB configurations. The V70 is listed at 12GB+256GB, while the V40’s listed 12GB option is 12GB+512GB, so the memory and storage pairings differ.
In the box and buying notes
vivo’s listings for both phones say a case and protective film are included. The V40’s box list specifies a USB power adapter, while the V70’s list says charger. A case or screen protector is therefore not a required extra. Buy a model-specific replacement only if the included one does not meet your needs.
vivo India’s official store lists both phones and is the source for the prices above. Prices on third-party marketplaces, and in other countries, are not covered by this comparison.
