On India’s official listings captured on 7 October 2026, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion shows a sale price of ₹30,999 against a ₹42,999 MRP, while vivo’s V40 starts at ₹39,999 for the 8GB/128GB version. That ₹9,000 gap is real on the listed prices, but it is not a like-for-like saving. The two phones are not offered in identical memory tiers, the listed chipsets differ, and the Motorola listing does not show which variant the sale price applies to.

On paper, the V40 leads on selfie and rear-camera resolution and on rated charging speed. The Edge 70 Fusion lists a larger battery, a higher refresh-rate ceiling and a newer Android version. None of the sources behind these figures are hands-on tests, so neither phone can be declared the stronger performer from this information alone.

Which Edge 70 Fusion specifications apply to you

Motorola’s own specification pages do not describe one identical phone across markets. The US specification page carries the caveat “Certain specifications may vary by market,” and the US and India listings differ on several points:

  • Box contents: the US page lists a protective case; the India page’s listed in-box components do not include one.

Unless a row says otherwise, the figures below come from the India listings. If you are buying in another country, check that market’s own specification sheet before comparing.

What the differences mean in use

Cameras

Both phones list a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, so the main-camera difference is not in resolution. The V40’s listing puts its emphasis on the front and ultrawide sensors: a 50MP autofocus selfie camera and a 50MP autofocus ultrawide. Motorola’s selfie sensor is 32MP, and its ultrawide is 13MP but lists a 120° field of view. Choose the V40 if front-camera autofocus matters to you, and choose the Edge 70 Fusion if you want the wider ultrawide angle as stated. Sample photos and video stabilisation tests from independent reviewers are the only way to judge actual image quality.

Battery and charging

This is a trade-off. The Edge 70 Fusion lists about 27% more battery capacity (7000mAh against 5500mAh), while the V40 lists faster rated wired charging (80W against 68W). The 80W figure is a peak rating: vivo notes that charging power adjusts with battery level and usage, so the time to a full charge will not match the wattage alone. Motorola’s “up to 50 hours” claim and the V40’s capacity figures were produced under each brand’s own conditions, so they cannot be compared directly.

Display

The two displays are close in size and resolution. The main difference is the refresh-rate ceiling: up to 144Hz for the Edge 70 Fusion against 120Hz for the V40. A higher maximum only matters when the phone actually runs at that rate, which depends on the app, content and display settings. The Motorola’s 5200-nit peak brightness is listed only on the US page, and the V40’s 4500-nit figure is listed only on the global page, so neither is a like-for-like India figure.

Durability and updates

Both phones carry an IP68 dust and water rating. The Edge 70 Fusion also lists IP69 and MIL-STD 810H, a military-standard test method. Those ratings describe tested resistance, not immunity to drops or cracks. For long-term use, the Motorola US page commits to security updates through February 2031. No equivalent commitment for the V40 or for the India Edge 70 Fusion appears in the captured material.

The price difference

vivo’s India store listings show the V40 at ₹39,999 (8GB/128GB), ₹42,999 (8GB/256GB) and ₹48,999 (12GB/512GB). The Motorola India catalogue shows the Edge 70 Fusion with a sale price of ₹30,999 against a ₹42,999 MRP, across four variants (8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB).

What the ₹9,000 gap does and does not show

  • The gap compares the V40’s lowest listed price (₹39,999) with the Edge 70 Fusion’s headline sale price (₹30,999). The Motorola listing does not state a per-variant price, so the gap cannot be matched to a specific memory tier.
  • Motorola’s figure is a sale price shown against an MRP. vivo’s figures are shop listing prices. Sale terms and listing prices can change without notice.
  • Some V40 variants carry stock or unavailable signals in the captured listings, so not every configuration can be bought at the price shown.
  • Bank offers, exchange deals, taxes and delivery charges were not part of the captured listings. Compare final checkout totals, not listed prices.

How to choose between them

The V40 suits a buyer who values front-camera autofocus and resolution, two 50MP rear cameras, a lighter body and faster rated charging, and who is willing to pay more for the same memory tier. The Edge 70 Fusion suits a buyer who values a larger battery, a higher refresh-rate ceiling, a lower headline sale price and the newer listed Android version. Both are specification-based differences, not verified real-world results.

  1. Confirm the exact market and model. The Edge 70 Fusion’s chipset and memory options differ between India and the US.
  2. Compare the same memory and storage tier at the price you would actually pay at checkout.
  3. Check the warranty and the software-update commitment for your country, since the captured sources do not establish these for every market.
  4. Look for independent camera samples, especially selfie and video stabilisation results.
  5. Look for battery endurance results from comparable independent tests, not vendor claims alone.
  6. Check display brightness outdoors and whether the 144Hz or 120Hz mode actually engages in the apps you use.
  7. Check whether the box includes a case or screen protector in your market before buying an accessory.

The sources behind this comparison do not establish a performance ranking or standardised battery results, so the choice should rest on the checks above and your own priorities.
