Vivo India documents in-display fingerprint sensors on models including the V80, V27 and V29, but the sensor technology differs by model and the available official information does not confirm which phones are in stock in India in October 2026. Check the exact variant and current listing before buying.
Which Vivo phones have an in-display fingerprint sensor?
Vivo India’s product specifications identify the V27 and V29 as models with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The V80 is another documented example, but its specification names a different implementation: a 3D ultrasonic single-point fingerprint sensor.
- Vivo V80: Vivo’s India product page specifies a 3D ultrasonic single-point fingerprint sensor. Check the V80 specification.
- Vivo V27: Its India product specification lists an in-display fingerprint sensor. Check the V27 specification.
- Vivo V29: Its India product specification also lists an in-display fingerprint sensor. Check the V29 specification.
These are documented model examples, not a complete list of every eligible Vivo phone or confirmation that any of them is currently available from Indian retailers.
Optical or ultrasonic: check the exact sensor specification
“In-display fingerprint” describes where the sensor is placed; it does not identify its technology. Vivo’s V80 page calls its sensor ultrasonic, while the company’s comparison data identifies an optical in-display sensor for another compared model. Do not treat optical and ultrasonic as interchangeable labels or infer performance differences from the label alone.

How to choose and verify a model before buying
- Confirm the India variant. Match the model name and variant on the seller’s listing to Vivo India’s product information; specifications can differ across variants or markets.
- Read the sensor wording. Look for the exact description on that model’s official India specification page, rather than relying only on a retailer category or the phrase “in-display.”
- Check current sale status. Verify stock and the seller’s listing at the time of purchase. The official pages cited here establish product specifications, not October 2026 retail availability, pricing or inventory.
- Check screen-protector compatibility for that model. Do not assume a protector that works on one Vivo phone is suitable for another.
Screen protectors can affect fingerprint recognition
On its S1 Pro page, Vivo warns: “A third-party screen protector might affect fingerprint recognition.” The same page advises using a Vivo official screen protector with a customized design for the fingerprint pad. This is model-specific guidance for the S1 Pro; it does not establish protector compatibility for the V80, V27, V29 or other Vivo models. Read Vivo’s S1 Pro guidance.

For a phone you are considering, check the exact model’s documentation or the protector listing for compatibility. If recognition changes after applying a protector, consult the phone’s model-specific guidance rather than assuming every protector or sensor behaves the same way.
