What made the original Fifth Avenue flagship notable
Microsoft announced its plan for a Fifth Avenue flagship in September 2014, describing a concept that would bring retail and experiential space together for customers and partners. The store opened at 677 Fifth Avenue on October 26, 2015. At opening, Microsoft described it as a five-floor, 22,369-square-foot space designed for hands-on product experiences.

- With 16 GB of memory, runs as many programs as you want without losing the execution
- The 13.5" 2256 x 1504 screen provides a great movie watching experience
- 512 GB SSD is enough to store your essential documents and files, favorite songs, movies and pictures
- 8 Hours battery run time helps you stay unwired and work longer non-stop
The 2015 flagship included an Answer Desk for technical questions, troubleshooting, and repairs; a Community Theater for learning sessions and community events; and immersive video walls, including an Xbox gaming display. These details describe the opening-era store, not a guarantee that every feature or the original floor arrangement is still in place. Microsoft’s 2015 opening announcement quoted then-corporate vice president David Porter: “Our store on Fifth Avenue — as well as every other one of our locations across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada — is here to showcase the best of Microsoft to the local community.”
Is there a guided tour or a published route?
Microsoft’s current listing describes activities and services, but does not publish a floor-by-floor route or promise a formal guided tour. The opening-era description of a five-floor flagship is useful historical context, not a current visitor map. Plan on exploring the available experiences rather than expecting a guaranteed sequence of rooms or demonstrations.
