BJP national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde urged party workers to listen to young people and explain the government’s claimed development record with facts, according to a Hindustan Times report on a BJP social media workshop in Varanasi on October 2, 2026.

What Tawde said about engaging young people

Hindustan Times reported that Tawde asked BJP members to connect with people born after 2000, who, he said, had not directly witnessed governments before 2014. He urged workers to explain the contrast between past and present conditions using facts.

The report attributes this wording to Tawde: “The current times call for listening to the youth, not just speaking to them.” The headline phrase “listen to youth rather than lecturing them” captures the message, but is not the direct quotation reported by the outlet.

What the Varanasi workshop covered

Tawde spoke at the BJP Varanasi Lok Sabha social media workshop in the Commissionerate Auditorium. The report says he encouraged workers to tell a story of transformation through content about development projects in Kashi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service. Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram were among the platforms mentioned.

What the report establishes—and what it does not

The Hindustan Times account documents Tawde’s reported remarks, the workshop setting and its communication themes. It does not independently verify the government’s development claims, measure whether the proposed approach is effective, or report how young people responded. The quotations are attributed to Tawde by the outlet; no recording or transcript is cited in the report.
