Vincent D’Onofrio publicly defended his Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll after an X user attacked the appearance of Faye’s armor skins in the upcoming God of War: Laufey. The dispute followed the reveal of preorder and Digital Deluxe content; the posts reported so far do not show how widely other players share the complaint.
What did Vincent D’Onofrio say?
On September 30, 2026, D’Onofrio replied to an X user who had criticized the appearance of two Faye armor sets and called for a boycott. Dexerto transcribed his response as: “Not that you asked, but… In no way do I agree with you. Deborah is beautiful and extremely talented. She is as smart as a whip and a complete nerd. Also incredibly kind.” He later called Woll “a good friend” and added, “I am a fan of God of War. I for one cannot wait to play the new game with my son.” Dexerto reported the exchange.

D’Onofrio, known for co-starring with Woll on Daredevil, directly disagreed with the post and praised Woll personally and professionally. ComicBook.com reported that he did not continue engaging after that reply.
What prompted the exchange?
The X user shared images comparing two Faye armor sets and argued that the developer had chosen “feminism over their jobs,” adding that it would “rather go bankrupt than give you an ounce of female attractiveness.” Those are the poster’s words, not evidence of a consensus among players. The complaint focused on the armor’s appearance and the preorder and Digital Deluxe content.

Push Square’s account says criticism of Faye’s appearance surfaced after the game’s unveiling and returned after armor and edition details were announced. It also describes a separate objection: some users do not want to play as Kratos’ late partner rather than Kratos. Complaints about who the game centers and complaints about how Faye’s armor looks are related to the same reveal, but they are different arguments.
Do the posts show widespread backlash?
No. The reports document particular posts and describe wider online criticism, but they do not establish how representative those accounts are of players overall. ComicBook.com reported that D’Onofrio’s reply had more than two million views when its story was published. That is a time-sensitive view count, not a count of people who agree with him or the original poster, and not a measure of player opinion.

What is confirmed about the game and editions?
Sony’s official UK listing identifies God of War: Laufey as a PS5 game. Its edition details distinguish the standard release and preorder bonuses from the Digital Deluxe extras:

These are the contents described on Sony’s UK product page. Check that listing for current availability, price, release timing, and edition details before purchasing, since they can change. Sony lists a physical PS5 option for the Standard Edition; the page does not establish hands-on impressions, and the game should not be treated as already released based on the announcement alone.
