The Viglen Chromebook 360 was a compact, education-focused convertible with a touchscreen and a useful range of ports, but Google’s automatic update support for this model ended in June 2022. That makes it difficult to recommend as a primary Chromebook today, even though its 2016 review praised its build, keyboard, and everyday responsiveness.
What the Viglen Chromebook 360 is
Chrome Unboxed’s review, published October 18, 2016, described the Chromebook 360 as a laptop designed for education rather than primarily for consumers. Its 360-degree hinge lets the screen fold back into laptop, tent, stand, and tablet positions, and the 11.6-inch display accepts touch input.

The review characterized the plastic chassis as firm and sturdy, and described it as splash resistant and drop resistant. Those are qualitative observations, not results from a stated standardized durability test or rating.

How it performed in the original review
The reviewer praised the viewing angles, keyboard, and trackpad, and reported that the machine showed little slowdown during everyday use with multiple browser tabs and background apps. This is an account of the reviewer’s experience in 2016, not a current performance test or a guarantee about a used unit.
The reviewer also reported roughly 9–10 hours of battery life with the display brightness set to 75%. That figure reflects the reviewer’s use at the time; it does not indicate the remaining capacity or expected runtime of an aged battery today.
Does the Viglen Chromebook 360 still receive updates?
No. Google’s automatic update policy lists the original Viglen Chromebook 360 as receiving updates through June 2022. Automatic update support for this model has ended. Google’s ChromeOS automatic update policy distinguishes this model from the Viglen Chromebook 360C, which is a separate device with a different listed support date. Do not use the 360C’s date when assessing the original Chromebook 360.

The model is identified as hardware codename WIZPIG with Intel Braswell hardware. The Chromium project’s Linux on ChromeOS systems page also lists the Viglen Chromebook 360, but that identification does not extend Google’s automatic update support. Chromium’s Linux on ChromeOS systems information
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you replace the battery?
The 2016 review describes the battery as removable and secured by two flat-head screws. That suggests it can be accessed for service, but the available information does not establish a compatible replacement part or whether one is currently available. Confirm the exact model and part compatibility with a qualified repairer or parts supplier before buying a battery.
Should you buy or use one today?
As a historical design, the Chromebook 360 has practical features for basic laptop and touch-based use: a folding hinge, a compact display, and more port variety than many thin Chromebooks. Its weight of about 1.6 kg also makes it relatively heavy for an 11.6-inch device, and the UK-oriented keyboard may be awkward for buyers who need another layout.
The decisive issue for a present-day purchase is that Google’s automatic update period ended in June 2022. A prospective buyer should treat it as an unsupported model rather than assume it will continue receiving ChromeOS security and feature updates. The 2016 review’s battery and performance observations cannot establish how any used unit will work now; check its condition directly, including battery health, screen, hinge, ports, and keyboard layout.
