Mortgage loan-origination software startup Vesta has raised $30 million in a round led by Conversion Capital, TechCrunch reported on October 8, 2026. Vesta says its software lets mortgage lenders assign parts of loan workflows to AI agents alongside staff, with human review and lender accountability remaining central to how those agents are used.
What Vesta does
Founded in 2020 by Mike Yu and Devon Yang, Vesta sells a loan-origination system (LOS) for mortgage lenders. The company describes it as AI-native software for configuring workflows and coordinating work among employees and agents. A LOS supports the operational flow of a mortgage application, from handling documents and tasks through lender processes such as underwriting and funding. Vesta’s product information describes tools for document classification and data extraction, automated checks, and assistants that answer questions or make changes to loans.
These are vendor-described capabilities, not an independent assessment of accuracy or performance. Vesta says the system logs agent actions and reasoning in an audit trail; the available product information does not independently establish how that audit mechanism is implemented or evaluated.
How the agents fit into lending workflows
Vesta presents agents as software workers that can handle assigned tasks, rather than as a replacement for the lender’s responsibility for a loan. According to CEO Mike Yu’s account to TechCrunch, lenders can introduce agents gradually: a person first approves the agent’s work, then the agent may handle a portion of loans, with its role expanding over time.

Yu also told TechCrunch that some lenders use agents to make underwriting decisions. That does not transfer accountability from the lender: Yu said lenders remain responsible for underwriting decisions regardless of the software they use. The practical questions for a lender are therefore not just what an agent can do, but which decisions it may make, how exceptions are escalated, what a person reviews, and what evidence is retained.
Who invested and what the funding means
TechCrunch reported that Conversion Capital led the $30 million round. The report also names Vesta customers Pennymac and New American Funding, Citi Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz as investors. It says Vesta has raised $85 million in total. These funding details are reported by TechCrunch; no separate primary financing announcement was identified in the available information.
Yu told TechCrunch that Vesta’s revenue had grown 12 times year over year, while the company remained below 5% market share. Those are CEO-reported figures, not audited financial results or independently measured market-share data. Yu said the funding would support hiring, market expansion, and investment in new product lines.

What customer adoption shows so far
Verus Mortgage Capital
Vesta announced that Verus Mortgage Capital went live on its platform in July 2026, replacing its legacy LOS. The company and Verus said Vesta AI features were in production, including document intelligence, an agent that resolves tasks, and a loan assistant. This establishes a reported production deployment, not independently verified evidence of its results. Vesta’s announcement and product information are the company’s account of the launch.

New American Funding
Vesta and New American Funding announced a partnership on July 15, 2026, with a phased rollout scheduled for 2027. The planned work covers underwriting, processing, and funding workflows. At the time of that announcement, it was a future deployment plan, not a completed rollout. Vesta’s announcement describes the partnership.
Pennymac and reported efficiency figures
Vesta says Pennymac reported a 25% reduction in operational cost to originate on its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call. Vesta’s LOS page also presents 50% efficiency gains for loan officers and a reduction in processing time from 14.5 to 11 hours. These are figures presented by Vesta about Pennymac outcomes; the definitions and underlying data are not provided here, so they should not be treated as directly comparable across lenders. Vesta’s LOS page presents these figures.
Rank #4
Yu told TechCrunch that U.S. mortgages take around 40 days to close and cost around $11,000 per loan. Those estimates are attributed to Yu in the article; TechCrunch does not establish a methodology that would make them universal industry measurements.

How Vesta positions itself against other LOS software
TechCrunch identifies ICE Mortgage Technology as a traditional mortgage-software competitor and Xpanse as an AI-native competitor. Yu’s argument is that legacy systems were not designed for agents and can be difficult to extend by layering agents onto them. That is Vesta’s competitive position, not a proven superiority claim.

A meaningful comparison would examine which loan stages and tasks each product covers, the integrations available, how work and exceptions pass between agents and staff, what control and audit records are available, whether a deployment is live or planned, and how lender outcomes are defined and independently measured. The available information does not provide a neutral head-to-head evaluation.
What the $30 million announcement does—and does not—establish
The financing gives Vesta additional capital as it pursues a crowded mortgage-software market, and the reported customer deployments show that its product is being used or planned for use by named lenders. The announcement does not by itself establish that agent-driven lending is more accurate, cheaper, or faster across the industry. The strongest evidence presented is a reported live deployment at Verus and a planned phased rollout at New American Funding; claimed efficiency and growth figures remain company- or executive-attributed.
