Verizon’s widely advertised “free” Galaxy S24+ deal was a limited-time launch promotion in January 2024—not a standing offer. It required an eligible Verizon Unlimited plan and a qualifying new or upgraded smartphone line, and its promotional value was delivered as monthly bill credits over 36 months. Verizon’s public product page currently lists the 256GB Galaxy S24+ at $999.99; existing customers must sign in to see any personalized offers.
What Verizon’s original Galaxy S24+ offer included
In its January 17, 2024 launch announcement, Verizon said, “Customers, new and existing, on select Verizon Unlimited plans can trade in any Samsung phone – in any condition – and get a new Galaxy S24 or Galaxy S24+ on us.” The announcement described up to $1,000 in promotional trade-in credits over 36 months for eligible customers and devices. The headline did not mean that every customer could get the phone for nothing upfront or without conditions.
To qualify, a customer needed a new or upgraded smartphone line on an eligible plan. Credits were applied over the 36-month promotional period and could end if eligibility requirements were no longer met. Read the full Verizon launch announcement for the offer’s historical terms.
Is the Verizon Galaxy S24+ deal available now?
The launch promotion is historical; it should not be treated as currently available. Verizon’s public Galaxy S24+ product page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the 256GB model at $999.99 retail, or $27.77 per month for 36 months at 0% APR. Verizon directs existing customers to sign in to see their offers, so public pricing cannot establish whether a specific account has a targeted promotion. Availability, stock, and account-specific terms can change.

A separate Verizon promotion described in its May 9, 2024 Up To Speed Live transcript bundled an S24+ “on us” with a Samsung trade-in, plus a Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G. That was another historical offer with its own terms, not evidence that the bundle—or the launch deal—remains available.
Why “free” can still involve a long commitment
Verizon device promotions generally provide their value through monthly bill credits during a promotional term. Its device deals and promotions FAQs explain that credits may stop if a customer switches to an ineligible plan or pays off the device early. The precise trade-in requirements and timing depend on the offer and trade-in path; review the applicable trade-in program terms as well as the promotion details.

Because credits arrive over time, compare the full cost of keeping the required service and device financing for the entire credit period with the cost of buying the phone elsewhere and choosing a different plan. A credit that offsets device payments is not the same as an unconditional upfront discount, and ending eligibility early can change the total you pay.

- Confirm the exact phone and price. Check the storage configuration and retail price, not just the “on us” headline.
- Read the line and plan requirements. Verify whether the offer requires a new line or upgrade and which specific plans qualify. Include the cost of any plan change in your comparison.
- Check trade-in rules. Confirm the eligible model, condition requirements, submission deadline, and how the trade-in value is applied. Do not assume another promotion’s “any condition” wording applies.
- Understand the credit schedule. Find the credit amount, how many months it runs, and what happens if you change service, change plans, or pay off the device early.
- Calculate the total cost. Compare service and device costs across the full credit term, including taxes, fees, activation charges, and any required plan change.
- Check your account for personalized terms. Sign in to Verizon and review the offer details shown for your line; the public listing does not confirm account-specific eligibility.
Bottom line
Verizon’s free Galaxy S24+ offer was a 2024, eligibility-based promotion paid through 36 months of bill credits. Treat it as expired unless Verizon shows a current offer for your account, and judge any replacement deal by its complete service and device cost over the credit term—not by the word “free.”
