First, check the model printed on your Verizon extender and note exactly how its status light behaves. Verizon’s E3200 and CE1000A use different light guidance, so don’t apply one model’s instructions to another. Also note whether one device disconnects, every device using the extender drops, or the router’s internet connection goes down too.
Work out what is disconnecting
The pattern of the dropout helps narrow down where to look, but does not by itself identify the cause.

- One phone or computer drops: Check that it is in range and using the right Wi-Fi network name and password. Toggle Wi-Fi off and on, restart the device, check for client software updates, and see whether another device stays connected. Verizon lists these checks in its E3200 Wi-Fi Extender guide.
- Several devices lose the extender’s Wi-Fi while the router stays online: Focus on the extender’s status light, placement, pairing, and compatibility with the router.
- The router’s own internet connection also drops: The problem may be broader than the extender. Check the router and service connection rather than assuming the extender is the cause.
Before troubleshooting, write down the extender model, router model, whether the extender connects wirelessly or by Ethernet, which devices are affected, and the light pattern during a dropout.
Read the status light for your exact model
A light is a clue, not proof that the extender is defective. Use the guide for the model on the device label.

The E3200 light descriptions are from Verizon’s E3200 setup instructions. CE1000A light meanings are in Verizon’s CE1000A support guide. Check the model-specific page if the light is not listed here.
Adjust the extender’s location
For the E3200, Verizon recommends placing the extender upright between the router and the area with weak coverage. Its E3200 FAQ suggests using My Verizon’s Wi-Fi Analyzer to find where the signal weakens. For either model, use the yellow blink guidance for that model when adjusting distance; placement is an experiment, not a guarantee that every dropout will stop.
- Keep the E3200 at least 10 feet from cordless phones and microwaves, as Verizon’s placement guidance recommends.
- Avoid large metal objects, moisture, excessive dust, and locations with extreme heat or cold.
- After moving the extender, observe whether the light pattern and connection improve before changing another setting.
Check pairing and the connection path
If you use wireless pairing with an E3200
Verizon’s E3200 setup guide instructs users to pair the extender beside the gateway, then move it to the intended location. During pairing, both devices blink blue. A slow red flash for two minutes indicates a pairing error. If pairing fails, return to the guide for the exact setup sequence rather than treating the light as a diagnosis of hardware failure.

If you use Ethernet or a MoCA connection
The E3200 guide documents pairing over Ethernet as an alternative to wireless WPS. Whether it suits your home depends on available cabling and layout. For E3200 LAN connection problems, consult the user guide. It notes that after a reset or reboot on a coaxial/MoCA network, power may need to be disconnected for three minutes or more for full synchronization. That is a model- and connection-specific note, not a general wait time for every Verizon extender.
Verify the extender and router are compatible
Compatibility matters especially if you changed routers or moved an extender to a different setup. Verizon lists these E3200-compatible gateways: ARC-XCI55AX, ASK-NCQ1338, and ASK-NCQ1338FA 5G Internet Gateways. Verizon says the E3200 does not work with WNC-CR200A; see the E3200 FAQ for the stated compatibility information.
Verizon Business lists the CE1000A as compatible only with CR1000A/B and G3100 routers. With other routers, features including Self-Organizing Network (SON) may not work as designed, according to its CE1000A support information. Check the exact model numbers; Verizon-branded equipment is not automatically interchangeable.

Restart before considering a factory reset
Reboot the E3200
Verizon’s E3200 FAQ says to unplug the extender’s power, reconnect it, and allow five minutes for the reboot and matching Wi-Fi name to appear. Use the instructions for your model if you have a different extender.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFactory-reset only if simpler checks fail
A factory reset removes saved configuration, and connected devices may need to reconnect. For the E3200, Verizon instructs users to hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds while the extender is powered on. Record any settings you need first, and follow the model-specific reset instructions. Resetting may help with a configuration problem, but it is not a guaranteed repair.
Run Wi-Fi Health Check if you have a CE1000A
Verizon documents Wi-Fi Health Check in My Verizon for the CE1000A. It requires SON to be enabled on the router and at least five days of data. In the app, open Home or 5G Home, select the extender, choose Wi-Fi Health Check, and tap Run the check. See Verizon’s CE1000A support guide for details. This availability is documented for the CE1000A; it should not be assumed for every extender model or service plan.
When the drops continue
If the correct model’s light remains in an error state after you have checked compatibility, placement, pairing, and restarted the extender, use Verizon support for that specific model. Have the extender and router model numbers, light pattern, connection method, and affected devices ready. Those details help distinguish an extender-to-router link problem from an individual client issue or a wider network interruption.
