The Vax Power 5 Pet VX28 is a household cylinder vacuum documented for Australia and New Zealand. Vax’s guide lists a TurboTool and upholstery tool for above-floor cleaning, but it does not establish how well the vacuum removes pet hair in independent testing. Its practical appeal is therefore best judged by its listed tools, capacity, cord length and the filter care it requires.
What is the Vax Power 5 Pet VX28?
Vax’s VX28 User Guide identifies the VX28 as a household vacuum for indoor use on dry surfaces. It is a corded cylinder model with variable power control. The guide lists a dirt container, flexible hose, telescopic wand and combination floor tool, plus a TurboTool, upholstery tool, crevice tool, dusting brush and tool storage clip.
The TurboTool and upholstery attachment make the VX28 relevant to pet owners who need to clean upholstery and other above-floor areas. However, the accessories’ presence is not evidence of measured pet-hair pickup: the available manufacturer material provides no independent performance test or comparative score.

#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL SUCTION. Dirt, fur & dust don’t stand a chance against the Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off vacuum’s suction power.
- LIFT-OFF DETACHABLE POD. Conveniently clean anywhere in your home, even hard-to-reach areas, with the lightweight canister and quick-release extension wand.
- HEPA SEALED ALLERGEN SYSTEM. This vacuum captures dust allergens inside the vacuum so they don’t escape back into the air you breathe.
- TANGLE-FREE BRUSH ROLL. Cut the hassle, not the hair. This vacuum is designed to handle hair and fur.
- SCATTER-FREE TECHNOLOGY. Vacuuming hard floors shouldn't be a headache. Strong suction and scatter-free technology makes cleaning a breeze.
What to know about filter care
Filter maintenance is an important part of owning this model. Vax advises checking filters regularly and keeping them clean, and warns against running the vacuum with blocked or missing filters.
- Pre-motor filter: The guide identifies it as washable. Let it dry completely before reinstalling it.
- Antibacterial HEPA post-motor filter: Do not wash it; the guide specifically says this filter is not washable.
Unplug the vacuum before maintenance or before connecting or disconnecting accessories. For a loss of pickup, the VX28 guide recommends checking the filters, separator, hose and dirt container, including whether the container is fitted correctly. Follow the model guide rather than assuming that every filter or component can be rinsed.

Is the VX28 the same as the UK Power 5 Pet?
No. Similar names do not establish that products sold in different markets are identical. Vax’s UK Power 5 Pet page describes a separate UK-listed product as weighing 4.7kg and carrying a two-year guarantee. The VX28 guide lists 4.9kg. Do not apply the UK page’s weight or guarantee to the VX28.
Before buying a replacement part, check the vacuum’s rating plate and exact model, then confirm compatibility with the manufacturer or seller. Vax UK’s Power 5 parts catalog lists accessories and parts for the UK Power 5 family, but its material does not confirm that every listed item fits VX28. Stock can also change.

Who should consider the Vax Power 5 Pet VX28?
The VX28 is worth considering if you are shopping for a corded cylinder vacuum in the Australia or New Zealand market and value its listed combination of a TurboTool, upholstery attachment, 2.5L container and 6m cord. The guide also specifies two different filter-care requirements, so account for regular filter checks and the need to keep the washable filter fully dry.
For a meaningful comparison with another vacuum, check weight, container capacity, cord reach, included tools, filtration and cleaning requirements, regional model identity, guarantee terms and whether compatible replacement parts are confirmed. The available sources do not establish current prices, a verified retailer listing, or a controlled comparison against alternatives.
