Valve announced Steam Frame prices of $1,059 for the 256GB model and $1,299 for the 1TB model in the United States. The first limited-drop registration period ran September 14–17, 2026, so its “pre-orders now open” headline is no longer current. The cited sources do not establish whether Valve has reopened registration or has stock available now; check the Steam store for current purchase instructions.

Can you still reserve or pre-order Steam Frame?
The initial limited-drop sign-up window closed September 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Valve’s terms said the first purchase emails would begin September 18, and links sent to selected participants would expire after 72 hours. Those dates have passed; the cited sources do not say whether registration has reopened or whether additional stock is available. Confirm status on Valve’s live product page rather than relying on the original announcement.

For that September process, the order of sign-ups was randomized to allocate limited initial supply. Valve’s terms limited eligibility to legal residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, an EU member state, or Australia who were at least 18, had an unlimited Steam account in good standing, and had made a Steam purchase before April 27, 2026. These were terms for the initial program, not proof that a current offer is active. Review Valve’s Limited Drop Program Terms and the current product page for applicable requirements. Accessories and reported launch prices
Road to VR reported three accessories sold separately at launch. The announcement’s accessory listing does not establish that any of them is included with the headset; check the current Valve listing for package contents.

What Valve says Steam Frame can do
The launch report describes Steam Frame as a standalone headset, with a Snapdragon Series 8 Gen 3 mobile chipset, standalone play for optimized VR games and much of Steam’s flatscreen library, and PC streaming through an included wireless adapter. These are reported product capabilities and positioning, not independent hands-on test results.
