Valve software engineer Jeremy Selan said the one thing he would change about the Steam Frame is its price. “Price. I wish we could have shipped it at the price that we were at last year,” he told PC Gamer. Valve hardware engineer Joy Lyons said the price target shifted amid the worldwide RAM crisis, but the coverage does not disclose the earlier target.

Lyons said Valve designed the hardware with a particular price in mind, but that target shifted amid the ongoing RAM crisis around the world. That distinction matters: the engineers described a price target changing during development, while Selan expressed regret that Valve could not ship at the price it had the previous year. Neither statement supplies a price figure.
