Riot’s public materials do not identify the exact hardware signals or matching logic Vanguard uses for a VALORANT hardware ban. Riot’s Privacy Notice describes broad categories of information that may be processed across Riot Services, including unique device IDs and computer, device, and network information. That disclosure is not a component-by-component list of what Vanguard uses to match a banned device.
What does Vanguard collect?
Riot’s Privacy Notice, last modified April 28, 2026, describes information Riot may process in connection with Riot Services. Its categories include identifiers such as IP addresses and unique device IDs, electronic network activity, and computer or device information. Examples include processing capabilities, manufacturer and model, language and regional settings, screen resolution, operating-system name and version, and connection details.
The notice also describes using technology to detect cheating and monitor unauthorized behavior or modifications. It applies to Riot Services generally and states categories and purposes; it does not specify which individual data points Vanguard uses for a VALORANT hardware ban, how signals are combined, or how long a device association lasts. So it does not support a definitive list of tracked hardware components.

Can Vanguard see my hardware ID?
Riot’s notice refers to “unique device IDs,” but it does not define that category as a particular component’s serial number or explain how it relates to a VALORANT hardware ban. The public material cited here does not confirm that Vanguard uses a motherboard identifier, disk ID, network-adapter serial number, BIOS identifier, or any other specific component value for ban matching.

Riot says it may use anti-cheat and fraud-prevention technology, including anti-cheat software that may run in the background of a device. It also says these technologies may make automated decisions, including temporary or permanent account suspensions, communication restrictions, content removal, or limited access to game content. That describes possible operation and outcomes, not the exact signals behind a hardware-ban decision.
Are TPM, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity, or IOMMU hardware-ban identifiers?
No such conclusion follows from Riot’s published requirements. Riot’s Vanguard system requirements, dated May 31, 2026, say that Vanguard may require Windows security features before a Riot game launches or during Vanguard’s pre-launch check, depending on the system configuration. The listed features include TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (HVCI/VBS), and IOMMU.

Those are documented security-configuration checks: Riot says they may be required for the game to launch. The cited material does not describe them as device fingerprints or as identifiers used to match a hardware ban. If Vanguard reports a requirement issue, Riot directs players to the Vanguard tray icon for relevant troubleshooting guidance.

Riot’s Privacy Notice says anti-cheat technologies may make automated decisions. Examples it gives include temporary or permanent account suspensions and limited access to game content. These examples describe possible anti-cheat outcomes; they do not establish the duration or scope of a particular VALORANT hardware ban.

Riot’s notice also says: “Our complaints procedure may allow you to appeal a decision.” It adds that an agent makes a final manual determination based on the available evidence. The wording is conditional, so it does not guarantee that every hardware-ban decision can be appealed or reversed.

- The exact hardware identifiers, if any, used to match a banned device.
- How Vanguard combines signals or distinguishes a device association from other information it collects.
- How long a hardware-ban association or ban lasts.
- Which accounts or devices a ban affects.
- Whether replacing a component changes a ban.
Riot’s general privacy categories and security requirements cannot answer those questions. Without a direct, current Riot statement, claims about a fixed duration, automatic effects on every account used on a PC, or a component change removing a ban would go beyond what these sources establish.
