VALORANT Error Code 7 means the client could not connect to the session service. Riot says it can indicate either an account suspension or a platform issue, so the code alone does not prove that your account is banned. Check the email linked to your Riot account and Riot’s current service announcements; if neither explains the problem, submit a support ticket.

What Error Code 7 means

Riot’s VALORANT error-code page describes Code 7 as “Couldn’t connect to session service.” It lists two possible explanations: a suspension on the account or a platform issue. The message “There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client” may also appear, but Riot warns that errors may currently display incorrectly.

Riot’s page, dated June 2, 2026, says a recent issue is causing VALORANT errors to display incorrectly and recommends submitting a ticket for help while it addresses the problem. Treat the code as a reason to check your account and service status—not as a diagnosis by itself.

What to check before trying again

Confirm the exact message. Make sure it says Error Code 7. Because Riot warns that displayed errors may be inaccurate, do not follow instructions for a different code based on a similar-looking message.
Check the Riot account email. Look in the inbox and spam folder for the address attached to the account. Riot says a suspension may be involved and directs players to check their email for more information.
Look for a platform notice. Check the VALORANT Discord or the banner on Riot’s Support Site for an announcement. Service status can vary over time and by region; verify the current notice rather than relying on an old outage report.
Submit a ticket if there is no explanation. If you find neither an account email nor a relevant platform notice, contact Riot Support. Include the exact error text, when it happened, your account region, and a screenshot if you have one.
Check notices again before retrying. Riot’s status page could not be accessed for this article, so no current outage, affected region, or restoration time can be confirmed here. Use official notices for the latest information.

What not to assume or change

Code 7 does not establish that you are banned. Riot lists suspension as one possible explanation, alongside a platform issue. Look for account-specific information in your email.
A restart is not a confirmed fix. Although the message may suggest restarting the client, Riot’s current warning says errors can display incorrectly and recommends a support ticket for help.
Do not buy hardware or repair software to address this code. Riot’s stated next steps concern account email, service announcements, and contacting support. The code does not establish a PC, router, or peripheral fault.

When to contact Riot Support

Contact Riot if the error persists and there is no relevant suspension email or platform announcement. Use the official ticket form and provide enough detail for support to identify the incident: the exact displayed error, time of occurrence, account region, and any screenshot. Do not infer a resolution time from the code; Riot has not established one on the cited error page.
