If a USB-C device will not charge, test the power outlet, adapter, cable, and device separately before replacing anything. Start by reconnecting both ends, then swap one accessory at a time. Inspect the cable and port safely, and use accessories compatible with the device: USB-C describes the connector, not a guaranteed charging speed or power capability.

Start with the connection and power source

  1. Reseat both ends. Disconnect the cable from the device and adapter, then reconnect it firmly. Check that the adapter is fully plugged into the outlet.
  2. Verify the outlet. Plug the adapter directly into a wall outlet you know works. If you are unsure, test the outlet with another device.
  3. Give the device a moment. If its battery is fully depleted, leave it connected briefly and check again for a charging indicator.

Google’s Pixel charging troubleshooting guide also recommends checking the cable, adapter, outlet, and connection when a Pixel will not charge.

Swap one accessory at a time

Changing only one part in each test makes it easier to identify the likely cause. Use a device and accessories that are known to work, and ensure they are compatible with the device you are troubleshooting.

  1. Test the original cable and adapter with another device. If they charge that device, the fault may be elsewhere; if not, continue testing them separately.
  2. Try a known-working compatible cable with the affected device. Keep the original adapter and outlet for this test.
  3. Try a known-working compatible adapter. Keep the cable and outlet unchanged.
  4. Compare the results. If the original cable fails with more than one device while a working cable charges the affected device, the original cable is the likely problem. If one adapter fails and another works, suspect the adapter or its power source. These are useful clues, not definitive diagnoses for every device.
What happens in the swap test Likely area to investigate Next step
The original cable fails with multiple devices, but another compatible cable charges the affected device. The original cable Stop using it if damaged; otherwise replace it with one compatible with the device.
The original adapter fails, but another compatible adapter works. The adapter or power source Confirm the outlet works before replacing the adapter.
Several known-working compatible cable-and-adapter combinations fail only with the affected device. The device’s port, battery, or charging system Follow the manufacturer’s support or repair guidance.
The device charges, but more slowly than expected. Accessory compatibility or the device’s charging limits Check the device maker’s guidance for the model and accessories.

Google advises Pixel owners that charging speed can vary by model and accessory; its Pixel charging guide is model-specific, not a universal wattage recommendation.

Inspect the cable and port without damaging them

  • Look for fraying, bent connectors, or heat damage on the cable. Stop using a visibly damaged cable.
  • Check the device’s USB-C port for visible dirt or moisture. Do not insert tools or other objects into the port or cable.
  • If the device reports liquid or debris, follow its manufacturer’s instructions rather than continuing to charge it. Google’s Pixel liquid-or-debris guidance says to disconnect the charger and let wet parts dry at room temperature. For debris, it recommends gently tapping the device with the port facing down.

Do not attempt to clear the port by poking or scraping inside it. If a warning persists or the port appears damaged, use the device maker’s support guidance.

Check that the cable and charger suit the device

USB-C is a connector system; matching connector shapes do not guarantee identical charging or data capabilities. Cable power capability and the charging protocol supported by the device and adapter matter. Follow the device maker’s compatibility guidance rather than choosing by connector alone or assuming a generic wattage will deliver a particular speed.

  • High Power ≠ High Risk | Smarter Compatibility for Every Device: 240W doesn't mean compromising safety—it means unmatched versatility. Thanks to PD3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) technology, our c to c cable fast charging dynamically adjusts voltage/current to deliver each device's maximum safe power (e.g., 60W to iPads, 100W to older MacBooks, 140W to MacBook Pro). Other 60W/100W usb c to usb c cable can't hit full charging speed for your power-hungry devices—they're held back by their own power limits. LISEN 240W usb-c charge cable? It charges all your gear steadily, efficiently, and at full speed, with zero safety risks
  • 240W Ultra Fast Charging | Smart Protocol Matching: This iPhone 18 pro max charger fast charging cable supports PD3.1 EPR/QC4.0 fast charging up to 240W Max, working seamlessly with USB-C Power Delivery adapters (e.g.60W/100W/240W). It automatically matches your device’s handshake protocol to deliver the maximum safe power it can handle. It's 2.4X faster than 100W fast charging usb-c cables: Up to 85% charged in 30 mins for iPhone 18 Pro Max, up to 65% charged in 30 mins for iPad Pro, and up to 80% charged in 30 mins for MacBook Pro 16''(M5). • E-Marker 3.0 Chip | Real-Time Current/Voltage Monitoring: LISEN 240W type c charger fast charging cable has an E-Marker 3.0 + PD3.1 EPR system that actively monitors current/voltage 3.2M+ times per second, ensuring zero overloads, short circuits, or battery damage. Paired with dual safeguards (overheat + surge protection) and PD3.1/QC4.0 certifications, it's not just a USB-C to USB-C cable—it's a smart guardian for your devices
  • Premium Copper Core | Conductivity Meets Durability: This high speed usb c cable fast charging is upgraded from standard copper to 99.99% oxygen-free copper cores—thicker, purer, and lower-resistance. This means: (1) Stable power delivery even at 240W (no energy loss or heat buildup). (2) Longer lifespan (resists corrosion and wear, unlike cheaper alloys). (3) Faster data sync (480Mbps) with minimal signal interference

USB Power Delivery (USB PD) negotiates power between compatible equipment. The USB Implementers Forum says the PD Revision 3.1 framework supports power levels up to 240W, but that is a standard’s maximum capability—not a promise that a particular device, charger, or cable supports or uses that power. The relevant details are explained by the USB-IF USB Charger (USB Power Delivery) page.

USB-IF’s cable guidance describes 60W and 240W power capability markings for USB-C-to-USB-C cables covered by its compliance program. A USB-C connector by itself does not establish a cable’s power rating or data rate. When replacing an accessory, compare:
