Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was reported on October 3, 2026, to have announced that 50,000 meritorious women in the final year of graduation are expected to receive scooties next month—November 2026—under the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme. That is an announced schedule, not confirmation that distribution has taken place or a final delivery date.
How many students are expected to receive scooties, and when?
Hindustan Times reported that the scheme is intended to provide scooties to 50,000 final-year graduation students. At the October 3, 2026 announcement, Adityanath said distribution would take place “next month,” which points to November 2026 if the schedule holds. No application, nomination or document-submission process is detailed in the consulted announcement report. It therefore does not establish an application portal, deadline, required certificates or whether students should apply through their institution. What is known about the scheme’s approval and funding?
Hindustan Times says the state cabinet approved the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme in July 2026. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet decision archive lists decision releases, including entries dated July 6, but its accessible listing does not set out scheme-specific rules.

A separate Uttar Pradesh government budget communication states that ₹400 crore was allocated for the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme in the 2025–26 budget. That is an earlier fiscal-year allocation; it is not confirmation of the cost or funding for the distribution announced in October 2026.

What has not been confirmed?
The available reports do not name a final distribution date, publish university-wise recipient lists, explain the merit formula, or specify the application process and documents. They also do not identify the scooter’s make or model, whether it is petrol-powered or electric, procurement arrangements, or conditions recipients must meet when taking delivery. Those details should not be inferred from the scheme name or the earlier budget allocation.

Hindustan Times also attributed a separate scholarship-related comment to Adityanath: “The CM said there is no shortage of funds for students; every eligible child will receive a scholarship, and those who have missed out should apply soon.” The remark concerned scholarships, not eligibility for the scooty scheme or a guarantee of vehicle distribution.
