Use this guide only for the T-Mobile USA Samsung Galaxy Note 4 model SM-N910T. It explains how to restore the historical Android 5.1.1 Lollipop build N910TUVU2DOK2 with Samsung’s Download Mode and Odin. This is a full manual flash—not a normal OTA update. It can erase personal data and removes root, custom recovery, and other software modifications.

Android 5.1.1 is archival software from 2015, not the newest official release for this phone. Later SM-N910T Android 6.0.1 firmware exists, including N910TUVU2EQI2. Use DOK2 when you specifically need the Lollipop T-Mobile software state or a known stock baseline.

Compatibility warning

Supported: Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T, T-Mobile USA software identity TMB.

Do not flash this package to SM-N910T3, SM-N910W8, SM-N910P, SM-N910V, SM-N910F, SM-N910C, or another regional/carrier variant. A similar-looking model is not interchangeable.

What you need before flashing

  • A Windows PC. Odin is a Samsung service utility commonly distributed through third-party download sources; do not assume a mirror is an official Samsung download.
  • The DOK2 firmware archive from the archive page above.
  • Samsung’s Android USB driver: https://developer.samsung.com/android-usb-driver. The current listed Windows driver is version 1.9.5.0, dated May 6, 2026; it is a driver, not the 2015 firmware.
  • A reliable USB cable and a direct USB port (avoid hubs).
  • At least 60% battery; a higher charge is preferable.
  • A complete backup of photos, contacts, messages, application data, downloads, and internal storage. A clean flash can erase data, and a later factory reset definitely will.

Remove the microSD card as a precaution. Close Kies, Smart Switch, other flashing tools, and programs that may interfere with USB. Historical guides mention enabling USB debugging, but Odin communicates through Download Mode rather than Android’s ADB interface. It can be left as a legacy preparation step; it is not what makes Odin detect the phone, and it may be impossible to enable when Android will not boot.

Download and prepare the files

  1. Download N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_TMB.zip from the firmware archive.
  2. Extract the ZIP with a trusted archive utility.
  3. Locate N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_TMB.tar.md5. This is the file Odin uses. Do not rename it or try to treat it as an ordinary archive.
  4. Extract the Odin ZIP and run the executable as administrator. The historical procedure used Odin 3.10.7; that source does not establish that it is the only compatible version.

Flash N910TUVU2DOK2 with Odin

1. Enter Download Mode

  1. Power the phone off completely.
  2. Hold Volume Down + Home + Power together.
  3. Release the buttons at the warning screen.
  4. Press Volume Up to continue into Download Mode.

2. Connect and verify Odin

Connect the phone while it remains in Download Mode. Odin should illuminate an ID:COM field and show Added!!. If neither appears, stop and troubleshoot the USB connection before flashing.

  • Display: 5.7-inches
  • Camera: 16-MP
  • Processor Speed: 2.1 GHz
  • OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

3. Load the one-file firmware

  1. Click Odin’s AP button.
  2. Select N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_TMB.tar.md5.
  3. Wait while Odin checks the file.

For this package, do not put the file in BL, CP, or CSC. Do not add a PIT file or unrelated modem/CSC files.

4. Check Odin options

  • Auto Reboot: checked
  • F. Reset Time: checked
  • Re-Partition: unchecked

5. Start the flash

  1. Recheck that the phone says SM-N910T and the selected file is the DOK2 package.
  2. Click Start.
  3. Do not disconnect the cable, close Odin, or remove the battery while the operation is active.
  4. Wait for PASS!, then allow the phone to reboot.

The first boot after a full installation can take substantially longer than usual. Do not interrupt it merely because the Samsung logo remains on screen for a while.

Verify the restored stock system

  1. Complete Android’s initial setup.
  2. Open Settings → About device.
  3. Confirm Android version 5.1.1 and a build/baseband in the N910TUVU2DOK2 family.
  4. Test calls, SMS, mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera, S Pen functions, and storage.
  5. Restore your backup only after basic operation is confirmed.

Troubleshooting

Odin does not detect the phone

  1. Disconnect the phone.
  2. Remove and reinstall the battery.
  3. Reboot Windows.
  4. Reinstall Samsung’s USB driver.
  5. Try another direct USB port and another known-good cable.
  6. Close Kies, Smart Switch, and other Samsung utilities.
  7. Re-enter Download Mode and reopen Odin as administrator.

Samsung’s recovery guidance also recommends reconnecting after reinserting the battery, trying another USB port, and reinstalling the device driver: https://update.kies.samsung.com/SmartSwitchPC_recovery_guide/firmware/emergencyrecovery/

Odin reports FAIL!

Common causes include an incorrect model package, corrupt download, USB instability, driver conflict, incompatible Odin build, binary-revision mismatch during an inappropriate downgrade, or failing internal storage.

  • Display: 5.7-inches
  • Camera: 16-MP
  • Processor Speed: 2.1 GHz
  • OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
  1. Wait for Odin to stop communicating before closing it.
  2. Return the phone to Download Mode.
  3. Recheck the exact model number and firmware filename.
  4. Re-download the archive and confirm it extracts correctly.
  5. Retry with a different cable/port and a clean driver installation.

Repeated write errors, random reboots, or failures across known-good cables and packages may indicate aging eMMC/storage hardware. Odin cannot repair failing hardware, so professional service may be more appropriate.

Stuck at the Samsung logo or boot loop

Allow extra time for the first boot. If the phone remains stuck, boot into stock recovery and perform a factory reset. This erases user data. If recovery and Download Mode are both unavailable, stop repeated flashing attempts and seek professional repair.

Stuck in Download Mode

Download Mode is a service mode. Do not interrupt an active flash prematurely. If no flash is running and the screen was entered accidentally, Samsung’s guidance explains the hardware-key restart procedure and the risks of unsupported software: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01212623/

Smart Switch emergency recovery

Smart Switch is not a substitute for this verified DOK2 package, but it can help when Samsung recognizes the phone. In Smart Switch choose MORE → Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization. If recovery repeatedly fails, Samsung documents using the recovery code on another computer: https://update.kies.samsung.com/SmartSwitchPC_recovery_guide/firmware/emergencyrecovery/

Should you flash DOK2?

DOK2 is appropriate when you need

  • The historical T-Mobile Android 5.1.1 software state.
  • A return to stock from a custom ROM or custom recovery.
  • A clean 2015 T-Mobile baseline for legacy software or troubleshooting.

Choose another path when you need newer software

If the phone is stock and working, first try Settings → About device → Software update or Samsung Smart Switch. Samsung’s update instructions are at https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10001948/.

For stock software newer than Lollipop, investigate a compatible SM-N910T Android 6.0.1 package such as N910TUVU2EQI2: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-N910T/TMB/N910TUVU2EQI2. Do not silently substitute it for DOK2 if an application or repair procedure specifically requires Android 5.1.1.

A custom ROM may offer a newer Android version, but it brings bootloader and recovery requirements, possible loss of T-Mobile features such as S Pen integration or Wi-Fi calling, and ongoing maintenance. It is not equivalent to stock DOK2. Samsung’s T-Mobile Note 4 support page is available at https://www.samsung.com/us/business/support/owners/product/galaxy-note-4-t-mobile/.

The Bottom Line

Flash N910TUVU2DOK2 only to a verified T-Mobile USA SM-N910T. Back up first, use the one-file package in Odin’s AP slot with Re-Partition disabled, and treat Android 5.1.1 as a historical restoration target—not a current upgrade.
