If your Samsung Galaxy Tab E asks for a Google Account after a factory reset, it is enforcing Factory Reset Protection (FRP). The supported way to continue is to sign in with the Google Account previously associated with the tablet, recover that account if needed, or ask an authorised Samsung service centre about ownership verification if you cannot recover it. A further reset will not remove the verification requirement.
Why the Tab E asks for Google Account verification
FRP is an anti-theft safeguard. Samsung says it can require the Google Account associated with a device after a reset performed with the hardware buttons, helping prevent unauthorised use when someone resets a device without permission. The Galaxy Tab E manual likewise says that adding a Google Account enables FRP and that setup after a reset requires the associated account. This is not a request for any Google Account: use the account that was on the tablet before it was reset. Repeating the factory reset is not a fix. A reset permanently erases locally stored information and files, and does not clear the account-verification step.
Recover access based on what you know
You know the previously used Google Account and password
Enter that account during the tablet’s setup. If you are unsure the credentials are correct, Google recommends confirming the username and password on another device before resetting. You know the email address but forgot the password
Use Google Account recovery to recover the account or reset its password. After a password change, Samsung says activation on the Galaxy device may take 24 hours or longer. Google separately recommends waiting 24 hours after a recent password reset before performing a factory reset. If you have already changed the password, allow the waiting period to pass before trying setup again; do not keep resetting the tablet.
You cannot remember the account details
Samsung UK advises taking or sending the device, together with proof of purchase, to an authorised Samsung Service Centre if you are locked out. Contact Samsung support for your country first: service availability and documentation requirements may differ by region, and this route is not a guarantee that every device can be cleared. The tablet came from another owner or a seller
Ask the previous owner or seller to resolve the account association through the supported setup process, or pursue a return or refund through the channel where you bought it. Do not ask the seller or a technician to disclose or share a Google password; the account holder should handle sign-in themselves.
Before resetting or transferring a working Tab E
If you can still use the tablet and plan to reset it or pass it to someone else, remove the Google Account from the device first. Samsung’s illustrated steps apply to Android Nougat or later, and the Settings route can differ on older software. Samsung lists alternate paths for older Android versions, so use the instructions matching your device rather than assuming one menu sequence works on every Tab E: Samsung’s version-specific instructions.
