The University of Lahore’s data-center project was announced in 2017 as a Tier III-compliant facility, with Schneider Electric and TechAccess Pakistan named as partners. UOL later described the facility as redundant and certified Tier III, and in 2022 said it was using a Rated-III data center for online teaching and learning systems. Those statements document the project and UOL’s reported use; the available sources do not establish who issued a certificate or whether one remains valid today.
What UOL announced in 2017
On March 6, 2017, Data Center Dynamics reported that the University of Lahore planned to establish a certified Tier III-compliant data center. The report named Schneider Electric as provider of non-IT hardware and TechAccess Pakistan as the partner supporting IT infrastructure setup and maintenance.
The proposed design included dual-powered IT equipment and infrastructure described as concurrently maintainable. Data Center Dynamics also reported that external cloud services were intended after the facility came online, with an expected schedule of about five months. That was a forecast published at announcement time, not a verified opening date or evidence that the facility came online on that schedule.
The project-era report described the planned private cloud as serving 30,000 students and 4,000 faculty members. These are the figures reported in 2017, and they differ from figures UOL published in its later prospectus.

How UOL later described the facility and its purpose
UOL’s 2022–23 prospectus calls it a “redundant certified Tier-III Data Center” and says UOL became the first university in Pakistan’s education sector, public or private, to establish one. The “first” wording is UOL’s own claim, also reflected in project-era coverage; it is not an independently audited national ranking.
The prospectus describes services the facility was intended to support:

In the same prospectus, UOL reported more than 35,000 students and 4,000 faculty members. Those are prospectus-era institutional figures, not verified current enrollment or staffing totals.
What UOL reported using in 2022
In an article dated April 21, 2022, UOL said it was using a “Rated-III” data center while running a Moodle-based teaching and learning system and a large virtual learning environment. This is evidence of UOL’s reported use at that date; the article does not provide independent uptime measurements or establish the facility’s current certification status.

What the Tier III wording does—and does not—prove
The sources use several related formulations: the 2017 report says “certified Tier III-compliant,” the prospectus says “certified Tier-III,” and UOL’s 2022 article says “Rated-III.” These descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable proof of a current certification. The reviewed material does not identify a certificate issuer, certificate number, scope, or present validity. It therefore supports reporting what UOL and contemporaneous coverage said, but not independently confirming an active certificate.
Similarly, the 2017 design description is not a record of present-day configuration or measured availability. No independently measured facility uptime is established by these sources.

What UOL’s current procurement notice indicates
UOL’s vendor portal says its IT Services department is seeking specialists to upgrade, modernize, and maintain core campus data-center facilities. It also invites proposals involving compute servers, centralized storage, backups, and off-site disaster recovery.
