Unfold is Colorlib’s one-page HTML portfolio template for creatives. Its current product page identifies it as version 3.0.1, updated October 2026, and lists a dark-and-light theme, project showcase, scrolling effects, testimonials, and a blog. Version 3.0 also replaces several older JavaScript dependencies with built-in modules and plain JavaScript, according to Colorlib.
What is the Unfold HTML portfolio template?
Unfold is a digital website template intended to present a creative professional’s work on a single page. Colorlib describes a dark visual style with both dark and light themes, plus portfolio and personal-branding features. It is a template to adapt with your own content, rather than a hosted portfolio service.
The product page lists a parallax effect, a scroll-down button, an overlay project showcase, scrolling animations, theme switching, testimonials, and a blog. These features suggest a portfolio that can combine an introduction, selected work, client feedback, and posts. Whether the one-page structure suits you depends on how much material you need to present and how visitors should navigate it.
What’s new in Unfold 3.0?
Colorlib’s product page identifies the current release as v3.0.1, updated October 2026. Its version 3.0 notes describe a shift to Bootstrap 5.3.8 CSS and plain JavaScript without jQuery. The page says built-in modules now handle the menu, reveal effects, and counters; PhotoSwipe 5 handles the lightbox; and GSAP, Isotope, and AOS have been removed.

Performance and asset changes
Colorlib reports that the home page went from 2.3 MB to 1.2 MB and a blog post from 2.3 MB to 0.5 MB. Those are publisher-reported changes, not independently reproduced benchmarks, so they should not be treated as a guarantee for a customized site or a particular hosting setup. The page also says images use AVIF with original JPG/PNG fallbacks, Raleway and Arimo are self-hosted, and the icon font was reduced to the ten icons used.
Fixes and accessibility claims
Colorlib says version 3.0 fixed issues involving the theme-switching header, mobile-menu display, a portfolio single-page slider script crash, and contact-form success being shown as an error. It also lists a skip link, an accessible mobile-menu dialog, visible keyboard focus, WCAG AA contrast in both themes, and reveal animations disabled for visitors who prefer reduced motion.

These are statements on the publisher’s product page; they are not an independent accessibility audit or confirmation that every customized implementation will meet WCAG AA. The template was not independently tested across browsers or devices for this article.

Yes. Colorlib lists theme switching and both dark and light themes. The product page says the version 3.0 update fixed a header issue related to switching themes and claims WCAG AA contrast in both themes. If color contrast, keyboard navigation, or reduced-motion behavior is essential to your project, verify those details in the version and customization you plan to deploy rather than relying only on the product description.

Is Unfold a good fit for your portfolio?
Unfold is worth considering if you want a one-page portfolio with a project showcase, testimonials, a blog, and selectable dark or light presentation, and prefer adapting an existing HTML template to building the interface from scratch. Its move away from jQuery and several named animation or layout libraries may also matter if you want a simpler listed dependency stack; the publisher says built-in modules replace those libraries.
Compare it with alternatives against the needs of your own site rather than feature counts alone:
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Structure: A one-page layout can suit a concise portfolio; a multi-page site may be easier to organize if you have many projects, services, or detailed case studies.
- Visual presentation: Check whether the dark and light themes and overlay project presentation match your brand and the way you want work to be explored.
- Content needs: Decide whether you will use the blog and testimonials, and whether the portfolio section accommodates the number and format of projects you plan to show.
- Technical fit: Confirm the framework, JavaScript dependencies, and customization approach work for your skills and existing site.
- Quality evidence: Treat performance figures and accessibility statements on the product page as publisher claims unless you verify them independently.
- Total cost and terms: Compare the current price, license, and support/update period against your intended use and the terms at checkout.
