At the Amazon prices reported on October 6, 2026, the UGREEN DXP4800 Plus is the better deal if you can use four drive bays, its higher memory upgrade ceiling, or 10GbE networking. The DXP2800 is the lower-cost choice if two SATA drives will be enough. Both are diskless, so include hard drives in your budget before comparing the total cost.

Choose based on bays, network, and growth
Choose the DXP2800 if two drives are enough
The DXP2800 suits a modest photo library, backup setup, or media collection when you expect two SATA drives to meet your needs. It costs less upfront, but its two bays leave less room to add drives later. Its single 2.5GbE port is also the simpler networking option if you do not have a 10GbE setup.
Choose the DXP4800 Plus if you will use its extra capacity
The Plus gives you four SATA bays, a higher listed memory ceiling, and a 10GbE port alongside 2.5GbE. Those options can matter if you plan to grow your storage or have applications that benefit from additional memory or faster networking. More bays also allow more drive configurations, but the four-bay enclosure’s price advantage only makes sense if you will use the added capacity.

- 【Local Privacy with Multi-Layer Protection】Keep your data private by storing it at home instead of relying on the cloud. DXP2800 GT helps protect photos, documents, videos, and backups with TLS/SSL, RSA, AES, and SHA-512 encryption technologies. - 【80TB Capacity for Your Growing Digital Life】DXP2800 GT supports 2 SATA drives up to 32TB each, with up to 2 of the same bays compatible with U.2 NVMe SSDs, plus up to 16TB via 2 M.2 SSDs, for up to 80TB total capacity. Store photos, phone videos, work files, movies, security footage, and smart home data in one place. Free up phones and computers, stop relying on scattered external drives, and say goodbye to “storage full” stress. Drives not included. Purchase HDDs/SSDs from a third party.
Do not treat the processor specifications as a performance verdict
The two processors and memory ceilings differ, but the cited comparison does not establish which model is faster for a particular workload. There are no controlled results here for tasks such as backups, media serving, or simultaneous file access, so choose based on the features and capacity you need rather than assuming a general performance winner.

The DXP4800 Plus’s 10GbE port can help only when the rest of the transfer path can use it. UGREEN’s guidance is that the connected computer, switch or direct link, cabling, drives, and workload all need to support the path. Real transfer rates can be lower because of network overhead, RAID configuration, file size, protocol, or drive performance. If your computer or network equipment tops out at 2.5GbE, the extra port may not improve your transfers.

- Best Performance in Class: Equipped with a 12th Gen Intel N100 processor and a 2.5GbE network port, this NAS can comfortably run multiple apps at the same time and transfer a 1GB file in as little as 3 seconds.
- Spend Less, Store More: Unlike costly cloud storage subscriptions, NAS only requires a one-time purchase with no ongoing fees, offering much better long-term value. Storing your data locally also provides far greater data security and gives you complete control.
- Massive Storage Capacity: Store up to 80TB, giving you more than enough space to back up all your files, photos, and videos. Automatically create photo albums and enjoy your personal home cinema.
- User-Friendly App: Simple setup and easy file-sharing on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, web browsers, and smart TVs, giving you secure access from any device.
- AI-Powered Photo Album: Automatically organizes your photos by recognizing faces, scenes, objects, and locations. It can also instantly remove duplicates, freeing up storage space and saving you time.
Budget for the complete NAS, not just the enclosure
Neither model includes HDDs. Add the cost of compatible SATA drives to the enclosure price; the Plus’s extra bays require additional drives if you want to realize its capacity advantage. Any optional SSDs or UPS should also be budgeted separately. The quoted enclosure prices alone do not tell you which complete system will cost less, because that depends on the drives and configuration you choose.

At TechRadar’s reported October 6, 2026 Amazon prices, the DXP4800 Plus offers more expansion and networking features for a $237 premium. It is the stronger value for buyers who will use four bays, the higher memory ceiling, or 10GbE. The DXP2800 is the more sensible purchase if two bays are sufficient and keeping the enclosure cost down matters more than future expansion. This is a price-and-specification comparison, not a firsthand test; TechRadar says it had not fully reviewed either model itself.
