Wang’s accurate kickboxing and dangerous right hand make this a competitive matchup, not a foregone conclusion. The scheduled five-round bout is set to crown a new UFC women’s flyweight champion after Valentina Shevchenko vacated the title due to injury.
Why Natalia Silva is the pick
UFC’s September 28, 2026, matchup preview described Silva as entering UFC 332 with an 8-0 UFC record and 14 consecutive overall wins. Her recent victories include former champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso and Rose Namajunas. UFC characterizes her style as fast and kick-heavy, with footwork that helps her land while avoiding return fire. Those qualities support a decision pick: Silva can try to score repeatedly at range rather than turn the fight into a series of close exchanges.
Two same-day predictions also favored Silva. MMA Fighting picked her while noting the danger Wang poses in close exchanges; theScore anticipated a tactical fight and a Silva unanimous decision. How Wang Cong can change the fight
Wang is not simply an obstacle for Silva to outmaneuver. UFC’s September 11 event announcement described her as entering on a four-fight winning streak, including a win over Tracy Cortez. UFC’s September 28 preview called her the division’s most accurate striker and said she had the division’s highest striking differential, but did not publish a numeric value for either claim. MMA Fighting also highlighted her kickboxing background and signature right hand.

Wang’s clearest route is to pressure Silva, close the space and land telling counters when Silva enters or exits. If Wang makes Silva exchange at her preferred range, a few high-impact moments could matter in a close round. Silva’s route is to keep moving, land repeatable kicks and avoid giving Wang a settled target.
What could decide the five-round title fight
- Range and footwork: Silva’s movement and distance control against Wang’s ability to pressure and close space.
- Clean volume versus impact: Silva’s potential to build up scoring work with kicks and controlled exchanges versus Wang’s accurate counters and right hand.
- Adjustments: Both fighters have striking-first profiles, so how each responds to the other’s entries and timing could shape the later rounds.
- Altitude and main-event experience: UFC flagged Salt Lake City altitude and a first UFC main event for both fighters as possible factors. There is no basis here to say either will determine the result.
The fight is scheduled for five rounds at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. That setting adds uncertainty to a prediction; it does not establish a particular conditioning outcome.

What the winner inherits in the title picture
The belt is vacant because UFC says Shevchenko vacated it while sidelined by injury. UFC’s October 1, 2026, division preview said Alexa Grasso had beaten Manon Fiorot and pointed to Erin Blanchfield versus Jasmine Jasudavicius, then scheduled for October 17 in Edmonton, as an important fight for the contender queue. The next title matchup remains uncertain and will depend on results and fighter availability.

UFC lists UFC 332 for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. As of October 3, the UFC event page listed the main card for 8 p.m. EDT and the women’s flyweight title bout first on that card.
