Watch Dogs is not officially dead, but Ubisoft has not announced a new game—and one is not currently in production, according to recent coverage of CEO Yves Guillemot’s remarks. He described the franchise as important to the company’s future while saying it has not been prioritized for a creative house. A translated reference to a possible remake is ambiguous, not confirmation that one is planned.
Is Watch Dogs dead?
Ubisoft has not said the franchise is finished. In an interpreted transcript of Guillemot’s remarks, he calls Watch Dogs an important brand for the future, even though it has received less attention than the company’s other brands. VGC’s October 6, 2026 report says a new Watch Dogs game is not currently in production.

That points to a dormant series, not a confirmed cancellation or a confirmed comeback. Ubisoft’s stated interest in the brand does not establish that a project is underway.

Did Ubisoft confirm a Watch Dogs remake?
No. The interpreted transcript attributes this wording to Guillemot: “So it’s not expected to put it in a creative house for the moment before it’s potentially remade.” The phrasing is unclear in translation. VGC cautions that it could refer to reviving or reassigning the series to a new team, rather than announcing a remake.

Accordingly, “potentially remade” should not be read as a commitment, production start, or release plan. No remake has been confirmed in the cited coverage.
What did Guillemot say about the franchise?
The transcript says Watch Dogs “hasn’t been used much,” uses a different engine from Anvil and Snowdrop, and was not expected to be assigned to a creative house “for the moment.” It also attributes to Guillemot the view that the series remains important to Ubisoft’s future. Because the transcript marks the answer as interpreted, its quoted wording may not capture the original phrasing precisely.

The sources describe the event differently: the transcript is titled as a September 30, 2026 earnings call, while VGC describes Guillemot’s comments as being made at the company’s annual investor meeting in early October. Those accounts do not establish one reconciled event date.

Watch Dogs: Legion, released in 2020, is identified by VGC as the latest released game in the series. The cited coverage gives no confirmed successor, release window, or timetable for another entry.
