What does ezCater do?
ezCater is a U.S. platform for workplace catering and meals. Uber says the platform connects customers with more than 140,000 restaurants and supports meetings, events, recurring enterprise catering, and food-spend management, with 24/7 customer support. It is focused on larger, organized food orders rather than only individual meal deliveries.

Why is Uber buying ezCater?
Uber’s stated plan is to bring ezCater’s catering and business-to-business expertise together with Uber Eats’ consumer and restaurant reach and Uber for Business’ organizational relationships. The companies say the combination is intended to help restaurants win larger orders and make group ordering simpler. Those are the rationale and expected benefits behind the deal, not results established after closing.
