CareEdge Global, the global ratings business of CARE Ratings operating from GIFT City, had sovereign ratings coverage in 45 countries at the end of FY2025-26, representing about 85% of global GDP. The 100-country figure reported at its second-anniversary event on October 8, 2026 is an expansion ambition, not a current count. The official material available does not set out a timetable or define what would count toward 100.
What CareEdge Global does
CareEdge Global is the international arm of CARE Ratings, run from GIFT City, India’s international financial services centre in Gujarat. It began operations in FY2024-25 and its services fall into four areas:
- Sovereign ratings, which assess the creditworthiness of national governments.
- Corporate ratings, covering companies and financial institutions.
- ESG ratings, including ESG ratings and data products.
- Research and macroeconomic insights, along with events and webinars, as described on the company’s own website.
Its global-scale ratings launched in October 2024. In an August 2025 company release, CareEdge Global said it had published its 50th global-scale public rating within its first year.
How many countries it rates today
The two most recent coverage figures are the ones to use. Both are company or parent-company statements, and both carry a date that limits what they show.

| Figure | What it measures | Source and date | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 39 countries, about 85% of world GDP | Sovereign coverage after the first year of operations | CareEdge Global release, August 14, 2025 | Historical; superseded by the figure below |
| 45 countries, about 85% of global GDP | Sovereign coverage, with expansion during FY2025-26 | CARE Ratings Limited FY2025-26 annual report; the anniversary coverage on October 8, 2026 repeats 45 | Current documented count, as of the reporting cutoff of March 31, 2026 |
| 100 countries | Expansion target reported at the second-anniversary event | Ahmedabad Mirror, October 8, 2026 | Ambition only; no timetable or coverage definition stated |
| More than $30 billion in debt | Debt issued by corporates and financial institutions, on a debt-rating scale | Ahmedabad Mirror, 2026 | Not a sovereign-country measure |
The count moved from 39 countries in August 2025 to 45 in the annual report for the year ending March 31, 2026. The stated share of global GDP stayed at about 85% across both figures. The company’s GDP basis, including which dataset and reference year it used, is not stated in the material available, so treat the 85% as the company’s own calculation.
What the 100-country target does and does not mean
The 100-country figure comes from an October 8, 2026 news report on the company’s second anniversary. It is a reported aim, not a number the company’s official documents currently support. Three points are unresolved:
Rank #2
- LAMINATED UV Coating for Dry-Erase + Durability
- WORLD MAP is printed on 24lb paper
- 3D SHADED RELIEF: 3D shaded visual terrain relief for land and oceans
- PERFECT world map for business, home or educational use
- UP-TO-DATE: completely current world wall map poster
- Timetable. No deadline or intermediate milestone has been published in the official material available.
- Scope. It is not stated whether the target covers sovereign ratings only, or whether corporate or other ratings would be counted toward it.
- Current position. The current documented count is 45 countries. Any reader comparing the two should keep the 100 as a forward-looking goal.
The $30 billion figure in the same coverage is a separate measure of debt rated across corporates and financial institutions. It should not be read as sovereign coverage or as progress toward 100 countries.
Regulatory footing in GIFT City
CareEdge Global’s About Us page lists two registrations with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA):

- ESG Ratings and Data Products Provider registration: CMI2026ERDPPs1014, dated March 11, 2026. The FY2025-26 annual report describes this as an additional IFSCA licence.
The FY2025-26 annual report also says CareEdge Global received accreditation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as an External Credit Assessment Institution (ECAI). The scope described is narrow: it allows Indian banks to use CareEdge Global ratings for risk weighting non-resident corporate exposures. The accreditation does not extend to all exposures or to every jurisdiction.
Who has said what
A company release from August 2025 attributes this statement to Revati Kasture, CEO of CareEdge Global: “Since the launch of our global scale ratings in October 2024, we have made remarkable progress in expanding our outreach, rating coverage, and services.” The October 2026 anniversary coverage attributes comments on global finance and credit assessment to K. Rajaraman, Chairperson of IFSCA, and comments on the company’s expansion principles to Mehul Pandya, Managing Director and Group CEO of CARE Ratings. Their exact wording is not reproduced here, and no named speaker is quoted on the 100-country target itself.

How to compare CareEdge Global with other agencies
A fair comparison with other rating agencies should keep five measures separate, because they answer different questions:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Sovereign coverage count.
- Share of global GDP represented by rated sovereigns.
- Corporate, infrastructure and financial-institution rating activity.
- Licences and regulatory recognition, by jurisdiction and rating type.
- Methodology and rating outcomes.
The available CareEdge Global figures cover some of these measures. No like-for-like competitor comparison has been established, so this article does not rank CareEdge Global against other agencies.
