Twelve South’s Valet is a leather catchall tray with a Qi2 magnetic charging puck and one USB-C output. It is built for keys, a wallet, glasses and other pocket items, and it can charge a compatible phone or wireless earbud case while those items sit on it. It is not a fast or high-output multi-device charger. The wireless puck is rated up to 15W, the USB-C port up to 35W, and independent reviewers report that the two outputs do not both reach full power at the same time. The price is high, and the original and compact models are priced differently.
What Valet is and what it is for
Twelve South describes Valet as a leather catchall tray with one Qi2 magnetic wireless charger and one USB-C charging port. The tray is meant to hold everyday items in an entryway, on a dresser or on a desk, while charging a compatible phone or a wireless charging case (Twelve South, Valet product page).

The original model, sold on Twelve South’s page as “Valet 7.5 in.”, measures 9.75 × 7.5 × 1.5 inches and weighs 1050 g. The US product page lists Nappa leather, a zinc alloy base, four configurable orientations, removable interchangeable leather frames, and hidden cable management. The box includes a 36W power supply and a 1.5 m USB-C cable (Twelve South, Valet product page).
The charging indicator is a soft white 3000K light. It pulses when charging starts rather than staying lit continuously (Twelve South Support, Valet Original).

Twelve South sells two sizes. The difference matters for what fits on the tray, so check the model name before you compare prices.

Charging: rated outputs and what happens when both run
Valet has two outputs, and their ratings are not interchangeable. The table separates the manufacturer’s maximum ratings from the performance caveats that independent reviewers reported.

Twelve South says Valet can charge up to two devices simultaneously, using the puck and the USB-C port. That statement means two devices can charge at once. It does not mean both outputs run at their listed maximums together. For a phone on the puck and a second device on USB-C, expect the rated speeds to fall short of the listed figures.

Compatibility: phones, earbuds and Apple Watch
- Phones: The puck uses Qi2 magnetic alignment and supports compatible Qi and MagSafe devices. Twelve South describes it as Qi2 and MagSafe-compatible. This article does not claim Apple certification for the Valet.
- AirPods and earbud cases: The case must support MagSafe or Qi wireless charging to use the magnetic puck.
- Apple Watch: Valet has no built-in Apple Watch charger. Twelve South’s FAQ states: “Valet does not include a built-in Apple Watch charger” (Twelve South, Valet product page). The USB-C output can power a separately supplied Apple Watch charging cable.
Design, frames and cable routing
The leather and the weighted base are the main reasons people pay for Valet. The frame attaches magnetically and can be swapped or removed without tools or adhesive. Twelve South support says frames “are engineered to work seamlessly with Valet’s MagSafe charging system and does not interfere with power delivery, device alignment, or heat management” (Twelve South Support, Valet Frames). That is the manufacturer’s position; independent heat or power testing is not reported in the cited reviews.
The underside cable path lets the cable exit in different directions, according to AppleInsider’s review (AppleInsider, February 16, 2026). AppleInsider’s reviewer, Andrew O’Hara, praises the appearance, materials, modular trim and tidy cable routing. T3’s Max Freeman-Mills calls the Valet a niche product for buyers who want discreet charging and an attractive home object, and says the price is hard to justify on utility alone. These are reviewer judgments, not lab findings or a settled consensus.

Who should buy Valet and who should skip it
Valet suits a buyer who:
- wants a visible, good-looking spot for pocket items at the door, on a dresser or on a desk;
- charges a Qi2 or MagSafe-compatible phone or a wireless earbud case and wants the charger to disappear into the furniture;
- values a configurable leather finish and replaceable frames.
Valet is a weaker choice if you:
- need the fastest wireless charging, since the puck is rated up to 15W;
- plan to run two devices at full speed, since the outputs do not both reach full power together;
- want Apple Watch charging without a second cable;
- need the lowest price in the category.
How to compare Valet with other catchall chargers
AppleInsider names Courant and Nimble as other makers in the catchall charger category. The cited reviews do not establish current model-level specifications for either, so compare any alternative on the same points:
