The TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen1 is a Linux gaming laptop built around AMD’s eight-core Ryzen 7 7840HS and Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics. Its 16.1-inch 1440p, 165 Hz display and upgradeable memory and storage make it a capable gaming system, but demanding games at maximum settings can overwhelm the GPU. The Gen1 product listing is archived and marked sold out, so check TUXEDO’s current lineup or used listings rather than assuming this model is still available new.
What is the TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen1?
TUXEDO describes the Sirius 16 Gen1 as its first AMD Linux gaming notebook. Its “binary star” pairing is an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics. The combination targets gaming and other demanding workloads in a 16.1-inch laptop rather than a desktop replacement with the size and weight of a larger gaming machine.

The manufacturer’s archived Sirius 16 Gen1 specifications list an aluminum chassis about 2.2 cm thick and weighing approximately 2.3 kg. The display is 2560 × 1440 at 165 Hz, with full sRGB coverage according to TUXEDO. An 80 Wh battery, USB4, HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 6E and USB-C charging round out the main hardware features.
How fast is it for Linux gaming?
Notebookcheck’s review recorded the following results on the Sirius 16 Gen1. These are results for the specified games, resolutions and presets—not a guarantee of the same frame rate in every game or configuration.

The spread illustrates the important trade-off: the RX 7600M XT can deliver strong 1440p performance in many titles, but the heaviest settings can push it below a smooth 60 fps. In a demanding game such as Cyberpunk 2077, lowering graphics settings or enabling an available upscaling option may be necessary. For less demanding games, the 165 Hz panel can make high frame rates useful; the refresh rate itself does not mean every game will reach 165 fps.
AMD’s 2023 launch material claimed 26% higher average performance than previous-generation AMD laptop GPUs across selected 1080p titles under AMD’s own test methodology. That vendor figure applies to the selected games and test setup, not all games or laptops; it should not be treated as a direct prediction for this machine’s 1440p results.

What are the CPU and GPU specifications?
Ryzen 7 7840HS
TUXEDO lists an eight-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 7840HS with boost speeds up to 5.1 GHz. The manufacturer specifies CPU operation up to 80 W in CPU-only workloads, with a cross-load limit when the discrete GPU is active. That distinction matters: the CPU’s maximum listed power is not a promise that it will sustain the same power while gaming with the GPU under load.

The mobile Radeon RX 7600M XT has 8 GB of GDDR6 memory in TUXEDO’s configuration. TUXEDO lists a 120 W graphics power target plus a 10 W SmartShift allowance. The laptop’s gaming performance therefore reflects a shared, thermally constrained system rather than desktop-class graphics operating in isolation.

Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD?
Yes. TUXEDO documents two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and two M.2 slots supporting up to 8 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. These are the manufacturer’s stated platform capacities. Before buying parts or opening the laptop, check the exact system configuration and installation guidance for compatibility and warranty implications.

For a current alternative, compare available models on the details that matter for your games and setup: GPU performance at your target resolution, Linux distribution and driver support, display refresh rate and color coverage, sustained power and fan noise, weight, battery capacity, upgrade options, warranty geography and actual stock. The Gen1’s specifications and review results provide a reference point, not proof that a successor performs the same way.

What should you know before choosing one?
- Good fit: You want an AMD-based Linux gaming laptop with a sharp, high-refresh 1440p screen and RAM and SSD expansion options.
- Performance limit: The RX 7600M XT handles many 1440p games well, but demanding titles at ultra settings may need lower settings or upscaling.
- Practical trade-off: At about 2.3 kg with an 80 Wh battery, it is portable enough to move, but it is not an especially light system for frequent travel.
- Buying status: Gen1 is listed as sold out; confirm current stock or consider a used unit rather than relying on the archived product page as an offer.
