TUXEDO’s fifth-generation laptop launch covers two Linux gaming lines: the Polaris 15 Gen5 and Stellaris 16 Gen5. Secondary coverage published by Tux Machines on October 26, 2023 identifies AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics for the launch. It does not establish the complete configuration, pricing, shipping schedule or current availability for either model.
What TUXEDO launched
The announcement reported two separate fifth-generation products rather than one laptop with two screen sizes:
- Polaris 15 Gen5
- Stellaris 16 Gen5
Both were described as Linux gaming laptops built around AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS and NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics. Those details come from the October 26, 2023 Tux Machines report, which is secondary coverage rather than an independently verified test or a direct TUXEDO release.

Consequently, the available evidence cannot support a reliable specification-by-specification winner. Screen quality, graphics tier, thermal behavior, battery life, port selection and pricing are all decisive for a gaming-laptop purchase, yet they are not established for these Gen5 models here.

What the Ryzen 7 7840HS detail means
The Ryzen 7 7840HS identifies the processor family reported for the launch, but it does not by itself determine gaming performance. The final result depends on the installed RTX model, power limits, cooling, memory configuration, display resolution and game settings. Percentage comparisons with other processors should not be treated as test results unless they are tied to a named methodology and primary source.
Do not confuse Gen5 with the later Stellaris 16 Gen7
TUXEDO’s later Stellaris 16 Gen7 announcement in May 2025 is a different generation. That official information describes full Linux support, choices including TUXEDO OS, Ubuntu and Kubuntu, and access to two M.2 SSDs and two memory slots. Those are Gen7 characteristics and cannot be assumed for the Gen5 machines.

The Gen7 page also lists a starting price for German customers. It is not a Gen5 launch price and should not be used to estimate what either Gen5 model cost or whether it is currently orderable.
What prospective buyers should verify
- Exact GPU: identify the RTX model and its power limit, not just the NVIDIA GeForce RTX family name.
- Display: check panel size, resolution, refresh rate, brightness and color coverage for the specific configuration.
- Memory: confirm installed RAM, slot count and the manufacturer’s maximum supported capacity.
- Storage: ask TUXEDO for the Gen5 M.2 form-factor, interface, slot count and supported drive dimensions before buying an upgrade.
- Thermals and noise: look for model-specific measurements or reviews; the processor name alone cannot establish sustained performance.
- Linux image and support: confirm the supported distribution, NVIDIA driver handling, firmware updates and warranty service for the sales region.
- Price and delivery: obtain a current regional quote and shipping estimate, because neither is established by the launch coverage.
Bottom line for the 2023 launch
The fifth-generation Polaris 15 and Stellaris 16 are documented as two TUXEDO Linux gaming-laptop lines using Ryzen 7 7840HS processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics. That is the dependable core of the reported launch. The evidence does not establish enough Gen5 detail to compare value, declare one model better, confirm upgrade limits or quote a launch price. Treat later Stellaris 16 Gen7 specifications as separate, newer-generation information.
