You can make Obsidian work like a personal command center by combining quick capture, reusable note templates, metadata-driven views, and focused planning screens. The available documentation verifies how QuickAdd and Dataview support parts of that workflow, but it does not establish which six plugins the title refers to. Rather than invent an author-tested list, this guide shows a grounded setup and distinguishes Obsidian’s built-in tools from community-plugin options.
What makes Obsidian a personal command center?

A practical capture route is to send quick thoughts into the current daily note, then organize them later. This keeps capture separate from the decision about which project or category deserves the item.
Give notes a predictable structure
Obsidian’s core Templates plugin can insert reusable text into notes. Use it to keep recurring note types consistent—for example, a daily note can include sections for priorities and follow-ups, while a project note can reserve fields for status and next action. Templates are useful even if you never install a community plugin.

Templater is another possible community option, but its presence in Obsidian’s directory alone does not establish that it belongs to the specific six-plugin list implied by the title. Confirm the intended plugin list before treating any set of six as an author’s personal setup.

Dataview queries Markdown notes using information in frontmatter and inline fields. It can filter and sort notes and display information such as tasks, which makes it suitable for dashboards that collect items from across a vault. Its usefulness depends on consistent metadata: if some project notes use a status field and others omit it or use a different spelling, a query may not return a dependable overview. Calendar and Kanban are directory-listed community plugins that may fit particular planning styles. Set up a low-friction command center
- Enable the built-in foundation. In Obsidian, open Settings and review Core plugins. Enable Daily notes and Templates if they are not already active.
- Create a daily-note template. Add only the sections you will actually use, such as priorities, captures, and follow-ups. Avoid adding metadata fields until you know which views need them.
- Install QuickAdd if you need faster capture. Open Settings → Community plugins, browse for QuickAdd, and install and enable it. Configure a choice to create or append a capture, then test it from the command palette. Assign a hotkey if you want a one-keystroke entry point.
- Standardize fields before building a Dataview view. Choose consistent names and values for the metadata you need, such as project status. Add them to relevant notes using the same spelling and format.
- Add Dataview only when a query solves a real review problem. Install and enable it from Community plugins, then build a view around the metadata already present in your notes. Check that the results include the notes you expect.
- Add date or board views selectively. Consider Calendar or Kanban only if that presentation fits your planning habits, and verify the current plugin listing and compatibility before relying on it.
Keep sync separate from the plugin decision
Obsidian Sync is an optional software service for working across devices; it is not established as a requirement for this plugin workflow.
