The Turing Pi 2.5 is a four-slot Mini-ITX carrier board for assembling a compact cluster from supported compute modules; it is not a complete computer. Turing Pi called the revision more than an iteration because it redesigned parts of the board’s USB system, BMC and external I/O. Those changes may make cluster setup and management more convenient, but module compatibility varies, and each node still needs its own operating-system setup.
Why Turing Pi called version 2.5 more than an iteration
When production of the Turing Pi 2.5 (V2.5.2) was announced, co-founder Stan Nevedomsky described it as the result of more than a year of development. He said: “This isn’t just another iteration — it’s the culmination of months of design, testing, and invaluable contributions from our amazing community.” The quotation and production-start announcement were reported by Hackster; they describe the launch-period rationale, not a current production or stock update.
The announcement singled out a redesigned USB system and additional access to node hardware. It said USB access through the first two nodes’ mPCIe connectors was available for modules other than Raspberry Pi CM4, and described a hub for reaching node storage during flashing. Node one was also reported to have USB Type-A, 4K-capable HDMI and USB Type-C storage access. These are announcement claims, not independently benchmarked performance results.

The report said BMC firmware improvements were then in progress; that launch-period status should not be read as a statement about current firmware.

What the carrier board provides
Turing Pi’s documentation describes a 17 × 17 cm (6.7 × 6.7 in) Mini-ITX board with four 260-pin compute-module slots. Its listed connections and features include two 1Gbps Ethernet ports, two SATA 3 connectors, four M.2 slots for 2260 or 2280 NVMe drives, USB, HDMI, GPIO, two mini PCIe slots and a BMC. The exact interface mapping depends on the node and module; the specifications are in the Turing Pi board documentation.
One important exception: Raspberry Pi CM4 does not support the board’s M.2 NVMe connection, according to the manufacturer’s documentation. Having an M.2 slot on the carrier therefore does not mean every installed module can use NVMe storage.

- For All Raspberry Pi B Models: The metal enclosure is designed for Raspberry Pi and is compatible with Raspberry Pi 4B+/3B/3B+/2B/B+; Supporting up to 4 2.5" SSDs (7mm thickness) and 4 Pi installations; it allows you to add additional storage to your Pi whenever and wherever you want, making it easy to build Pi clusters and Pi NAS servers. Please note that the thickness of a 2.5" SSD cannot exceed 7mm.
- Side Opening Design: you can easily position the Pi HDMI, audio, and power supply. Each layer is 40mm/4.57inch high, there is enough space for you to install 4 mini PoE hats and official PoE+hat.
- Made of metal aluminum, Size: 4.13*4.84*7.12inch; the case is strong and durable, compact and lightweight. So you can easily place it anywhere on your desk. An SD card slot is reserved in the mounting bracket, which can be accessed from the front of the case using an SD card adapter (Asin: B09CKRDFTH). 4 additional screw holes on the top of the enclosure for stacking.
- Easy to install: The case is not pre-assembled and requires simple installation once you get it in your hands. Each mounting plate uses M4 hand screws, making it easy to remove and install one of the units without a screwdriver.
- Applications: This Pi cluster case solution helps you handle heavy loads and build small clusters; it also makes it easy to manage your Pi and cables, beautifying your workbench for a neater and tidier.
Which compute modules are supported
The manufacturer’s supported-module list includes Turing RK1; Raspberry Pi CM4 with an adapter; NVIDIA Jetson Nano Super, Orin NX, Orin Nano, Xavier NX, TX2 NX and Jetson Nano B01. The original Jetson Nano A02 is explicitly not supported.
Compatibility is not the same as identical capability. Which interfaces work, what software can run, and what storage is available vary by module. Choose a module against the workload and required software, then verify the specific node’s interface support rather than assuming every connector or software stack works across all four slots.

- The gold-plated surface can prevent oxidation, high-quality gold-plated surface, easy to weld
- All holes have been electroplated to increase the strength.
- The breakout board is equipped with Raspberry Pi pico, which is convenient for users to develop and integrate flexibly
- The package does not include the Raspberry Pi pico, you need to configure it yourself.
What the BMC does—and does not do
The BMC is a Linux-based board controller for hardware management tasks such as power control and temperature monitoring. Turing Pi documents these functions in its BMC guide. It is part of the board’s cluster-management proposition, but it does not replace installing and configuring an operating system on each compute module.
Plan cooling, case space and the rest of the build
The carrier fits a standard Mini-ITX case. Turing Pi recommends at least one case fan and heatsinks, and warns that insufficient cooling can cause thermal throttling and performance problems. Fanless operation may be possible, but it is not a universal configuration recommendation: cooling needs depend on the selected modules and enclosure. See the manufacturer’s case and cooling guidance.

- Not only compatible with Raspberry Pi 4B and 3B, all Pi B-type boards are compatible.
- Hassle-free installation of 2.5" ssd, add your additional storage anytime, anywhere. Please note that the thickness of a 2.5" SSD cannot exceed 7mm.
- With a 12cm LED fan, silent, beautiful, and able to provide sufficient cooling for 4 Pis. Note: This fan is not a PWM fan, can not control the air speed and temperature.
- Front pull-out, easy to replace one of unit, easy access to the RPi's I/O ports and SD card.
- The mounting plate also has a reserved SD card slot, so you can access and replace the SD card from the front side simply by using the SD card adapter(ASIN: B09CKRDFTH).
A working cluster requires more than the carrier. Account for compute modules, a suitable power supply, any needed storage, cooling and, if desired, an enclosure. Do not assume these are included with the board; confirm the contents of the specific listing before ordering.

Is the redesign relevant to your build?
The changes matter most if your priority is assembling and managing several supported modules on one carrier, with board-level access to storage and external hardware. Before choosing components, compare the module families against your software and workload, verify node-specific interfaces and storage support, and budget for cooling and the rest of the build. The production announcement explains the company’s design rationale; it does not establish comparative benchmark results or prove that every configuration benefits equally.
