The Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress II is the brand’s 13.5-inch, medium-firm all-foam mattress. Its official listing describes a four-layer foam construction and advertises a 100-night sleep trial and 10-year limited warranty. The important distinction: the separate Mint Hybrid Mattress II adds individually wrapped coils, and the company’s airflow and cooling figures are manufacturer claims—not independently established results.
What is the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress II?
The Mint Mattress II is Tuft & Needle’s all-foam model. The company lists a 13.5-inch profile and these materials: T&N Adaptive foam, gel memory foam, support foam and base foam. Its product listing calls the feel medium firm. That is the manufacturer’s description, not a guarantee that it will feel medium firm to every sleeper.
Tuft & Needle says this second-generation Mint is slightly firmer than the previous Mint, adds 1.5 inches to its profile, and adds support foam and gel memory foam. The names are similar, but these are different models. The standard Mint II uses foam throughout, while the Mint Hybrid Mattress II combines foam with individually wrapped coils. Tuft & Needle describes both as medium firm and 13.5 inches tall.

The company’s model comparison says the hybrid adds coils for motion control. That is a construction and performance claim from the manufacturer, not an independent finding that the hybrid isolates motion better for every sleeper. Its hybrid collection page provides the brand’s comparison.
What Tuft & Needle says about firmness and cooling
The product FAQ describes the mattress as “a Medium Firm feel for balanced support with a little extra stability that works well for all sleepers.” That sentence reflects the company’s characterization; it should not be read as evidence that one firmness suits every body type, sleep position or preference.

Tuft & Needle also says its Adaptive foam provides 25% more airflow and 35% more responsivity than memory foam of similar density in the comparable layer. Treat them as manufacturer claims rather than assured real-world temperature or responsiveness results.

Consider the all-foam Mint II if
- You want the standard Mint II’s foam-only construction rather than a coil hybrid.
- The manufacturer’s stated medium-firm feel is a reasonable starting point for your preference, while recognizing that feel is personal.
- You are comfortable evaluating cooling and airflow statements as company claims rather than independently verified outcomes.
Consider comparing the hybrid if
- You specifically want a mattress with individually wrapped coils as well as foam.
- You want to assess the manufacturer’s motion-control and breathability claims for the hybrid, without treating them as proven performance results.
Neither model can be ranked for comfort, cooling, motion isolation, edge support or durability on the available evidence. Those outcomes require testing beyond the construction details and claims on the company’s product pages.
