On November 10, 2022, the governments of Canada and Alberta announced more than $2.6 million in combined funding for a project intended to bring high-speed internet access to more than 300 Tsuut’ina Nation households. The federal announcement named Tsuut’ina Nation Telecommunications as the local internet service provider responsible for carrying out the project and maintaining its network. The announcement documents a funded plan—not proof that construction is complete or that service is available today.
How many Tsuut’ina households are included?
The federal government’s November 10, 2022 announcement described the project as serving more than 300 households. Alberta’s broadband-project lookup gives a more precise listing: 303 households. That figure comes from the provincial lookup, not from the 2022 federal announcement.
The provincial tracker lists total investment of $2,615,198. The federal announcement rounded the combined funding to more than $2.6 million. Neither figure, on its own, establishes how many homes can subscribe now.

The federal release says Tsuut’ina Nation had established and was operating Tsuut’ina Nation Telecommunications to carry out the project and maintain the network. The announcement therefore identifies a Nation-run local ISP, rather than naming a commercial provider from which residents should assume they can order service.

The release does not provide current contact details, subscription instructions, eligibility rules, installation terms, prices, service plans, or customer-equipment requirements. Residents seeking service information should confirm it directly with Tsuut’ina Nation Telecommunications or the Nation.
What speeds did the announcement promise?
The federal release cites the Canadian high-speed internet benchmark of at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. That is national policy context, not a stated speed guarantee or plan specification for Tsuut’ina households. The announcement does not identify the speeds, data limits, or reliability of any customer service tier.

What infrastructure was described?
The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada’s project page describes a proposal to construct eight telecommunications towers to provide high-speed internet access to Tsuut’ina Nation. A proposal is not confirmation that the towers were built; the page information available here does not establish construction completion.

The available official information does not securely establish whether construction is complete or which households can currently get service. Alberta’s project lookup supplies the household and investment figures, but its displayed construction-status label cannot be reliably tied to the Tsuut’ina listing. The 2022 funding announcement describes intended coverage, not present availability.

For a current answer, residents need confirmation from the local ISP or the Nation. In particular, the published announcement and tracker do not settle:
- Whether the network build is finished and service is open for subscriptions.
- Which addresses are eligible and what installation involves.
- Available speeds, data allowances, recurring prices, or other plan terms.
- Whether a router, modem, antenna, or other customer-premises equipment is required or provided.
How the funding fits into broader connectivity plans
The 2022 announcement placed the project within a Canada–Alberta broadband agreement announced in March 2022, under which the governments planned to invest up to $780 million in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Alberta. It also cited federal targets of connecting 98% of Canadians by 2026 and 100% by 2030, and Alberta’s goal of access for every household by the end of fiscal year 2026–27. These are policy targets stated in the release; they do not indicate the current progress or completion status of the Tsuut’ina project.

At the time of the announcement, Tsuut’ina Chief Roy Whitney said that 65% of homes could not connect. That was his attributed statement in 2022, not a current independent measurement of household connectivity.
