TSMC’s third-quarter 2026 earnings call is scheduled for October 15. It could offer new clues about demand, margins and reported 2027 chip-price increases, but those increases are not confirmed company policy. The call may also shed light on TSMC’s possible role in Elon Musk’s Terafab project; Musk has said Tesla and SpaceX will build and run the fab.

When is TSMC’s next earnings call, and what is already known?

TSMC lists its Third Quarter 2026 Earnings Conference for Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 14:00 Taiwan time (2:00 p.m. Eastern Time). The company’s investor-relations page also lists a quiet period from October 5 through October 14. As of October 9, the call had not happened, so Q3 results and any new management commentary were not yet available.

TSMC’s published Q3 guidance is revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion, gross margin of 65.0% to 67.0%, and operating margin of 56.0% to 58.0%. For comparison, its reported Q2 actuals were US$40.20 billion in revenue, a 67.7% gross margin, and a 60.3% operating margin. These are different reporting periods: the Q3 figures are guidance, while the Q2 figures are actual results.

The company’s Q2 2026 results and Q3 conference information and guidance provide the official reference points. During the call, investors will be able to compare Q3 results with guidance and listen for management’s outlook on demand, capacity, pricing and costs. No outcome should be assumed in advance.

Could the call confirm 2027 TSMC price increases?

It might clarify the pricing outlook, but the figures circulating before the call are attributed estimates and reports—not a TSMC price list or confirmed company announcement. The official pre-call materials cited here do not announce a price increase.

TrendForce’s October 5 preview relays estimates attributed to Central News Agency, citing institutional investors: 5%–10% increases for advanced-node prices, 10%–15% for advanced packaging, and 3%–5% for mature-node prices. TrendForce also relays a separate Economic Daily News account that puts possible mature-node increases at around 3%–10%. The different mature-node ranges illustrate why these figures should be treated as reported estimates rather than settled rates.

A July 21 Tom’s Hardware report, citing Nikkei and people familiar with the matter, describes alleged baseline increases of 5%–10% for advanced technologies—defined in that report as 7nm-class and below. It also reports a possible additional 10%–15% premium for some high-performance computing (HPC) capacity beyond customers’ original orders, as well as potential increases of up to 10% for some mature and legacy technologies, depending on the node. The report says customer discussions were expected to translate into new rates in 2027; it does not establish that every customer will face the same increase.

  • What is covered: a fabrication node, an advanced-packaging service, or another technology category.
  • What the percentage describes: a baseline price change or an additional premium for capacity beyond an original order.
  • How certain it is: an attributed estimate or report, rather than a figure confirmed by TSMC.

TrendForce’s October 5 earnings preview and Tom’s Hardware’s July 21 report are the sources for these reported ranges. Neither establishes final prices or a universal increase across all TSMC customers.

What could TSMC’s earnings say about AI and chip demand?

The published guidance gives investors a benchmark for the quarter, while management’s commentary may help explain demand, available capacity, costs and pricing expectations. Advanced-node and advanced-packaging price reports are relevant to AI-related chip production, but the cited reports do not prove that AI demand will lead to a particular TSMC price change or earnings outcome.

The distinction is important: revenue and margin results show how the business performed during the quarter, while pricing reports describe possible future customer rates. The October 15 call could add information to that outlook, but as of October 9 it had not provided any new confirmation.

What has Musk said about TSMC’s role in Terafab?

The public account changed over the week. On October 3, Elon Musk confirmed discussions with TSMC, saying, “Just discussions, but something may come of it.” Tom’s Hardware also summarized possible ownership and operating structures discussed in Tim Culpan’s Culpium newsletter, but characterized those structures as speculation.

On October 7, Musk clarified that Tesla and SpaceX would build and operate Terafab: “No, we will build and run the fab. Let there be ZERO doubt about that.” He added, “Maybe TSMC subleases part of the Terafab if they want, but nothing more than that.” Reuters describes Terafab as a planned Tesla-SpaceX project in Texas intended to make AI chips. On this account, TSMC’s possible involvement is limited to a potential sublease, not ownership or operation of the project.

Reuters also reported that Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan had told Bloomberg that Intel would remain involved. TSMC and Intel had not immediately responded to Reuters’ requests for comment. That leaves the precise project structure and schedule unsettled; earlier discussion of Intel’s possible 14A role and alternative partnership structures should not be treated as finalized plans.

Read the dated accounts from Tom’s Hardware, October 3, and Reuters, October 7. They support a distinction between initial discussions with TSMC and Musk’s later statement about who would run the fab.

What the October 15 call can—and cannot—settle

  • It can provide: Q3 actual results against TSMC’s published guidance, updated management commentary, and potentially further information on demand, capacity, costs or pricing.
  • It cannot be presumed to provide: confirmation of every reported 2027 price range, a universal rate change for all customers, or a settled account of Terafab’s structure and timetable.

The title’s reference to an unnamed “Analyst” cannot be tied to a specific forecast in the cited material. TrendForce mentions a JPMorgan view on earnings and margins, and separately relays institutional-investor estimates for price changes, but those references do not identify the analyst or establish the precise forecast implied by that attribution.
