Hell Is Us was announced for Nintendo Switch 2 as a worldwide digital release on the Nintendo eShop, scheduled for October 8, 2026. The game’s defining choice is that it gives you no map, no compass, and no quest markers, so you find your way by reading the world around you.

October 8, 2026 is the date given in the announcement, not confirmation from a live store page. Before buying, check the Nintendo eShop listing on your Switch 2 to confirm the game is available in your region and to see the price, which the announcement does not state.

The game’s title points to its main design idea. According to the report, Hell Is Us includes no map, compass, or quest markers. Exploration is built around interpreting the environment, and players make their own decisions as they go. Discoveries are meant to be found rather than pointed out.

For a reader deciding whether that suits them, this is the central trade-off. Guided navigation tells you where to go next; self-directed exploration asks you to read landmarks, terrain, and surroundings and to accept that you may sometimes be wrong about the route. The announcement does not describe how difficult this is in practice, so that is something to judge once the game is in hand.
The world and its threat
The story is set in a country divided by civil war and affected by a mysterious calamity that has produced supernatural chimeras. The report says modern weapons cannot defeat these creatures, which is why the game’s combat relies on melee weapons and a drone.
