The original Tribit StormBox Blast is a party-focused portable Bluetooth speaker with manufacturer-listed 90W output, XBass and music-synchronized LED lighting. Its stated 30-hour battery life is not guaranteed, and at 12 lb it is portable but heavy to carry often. It may suit a gathering where those trade-offs fit; the available specifications do not establish it as the best party speaker for everyone.
Is the original StormBox Blast good for a party?
Tribit lists the original StormBox Blast at 90W and includes XBass and 32 LED lights that the company says can brighten, pulse and sync to music. Those features make it clearly aimed at parties and gatherings. RTINGS also identifies its RGB lighting and built-in carrying handle. These are feature descriptions, not evidence of a universal sound-quality ranking or hands-on assessment.
Its 12 lb weight is a practical trade-off: the handle helps with transport, but it is not an ultralight speaker for frequent carrying. Tribit lists Bluetooth 5.3, A2DP and AVRCP support, a 50 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, and a stated wireless distance of 164 ft (30 m). Treat the distance and other figures as manufacturer specifications rather than independent measurements. Tribit’s original StormBox Blast specifications describe the product; they do not establish how it will perform in a particular room or outdoor setting.
How long does the StormBox Blast battery last?
Tribit claims up to 30 hours of playtime from the 71.28Wh battery, but explicitly says duration varies with the music and volume. “Up to” is a maximum claim, not a guaranteed runtime for every party or listening level. The company lists a 3.5-hour charge time using 100–240V AC power.

Is the original StormBox Blast waterproof?
Tribit rates the original model IPX7. Its Japan product page explains this rating as tolerating immersion in water up to 1 m deep for up to 30 minutes. That statement does not establish protection from saltwater, drops or other damage, so do not treat waterproofing as general ruggedness. Tribit Japan’s StormBox Blast page identifies the original model as BTS52 and provides the rating explanation.
What the original model does not include
Tribit says the speaker has no built-in microphone and does not support calls. It is therefore not a speakerphone for taking calls during a gathering. The product page also links to the user manual and Tribit app for owners who need setup or control information. See Tribit’s product information and support details.

Original StormBox Blast vs. StormBox Blast 2
These are separate generations. Tribit’s lineup guide lists the original at 90W and IPX7, while the Blast 2 is listed at 200W on AC power, 180W on battery, and IP67. The output figures have different stated power conditions for the newer model, and all are manufacturer-listed specifications—not directly comparable independent test results.
| Specification | Original StormBox Blast | StormBox Blast 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed output | 90W | 200W on AC power; 180W on battery |
| Ingress rating | IPX7 | IP67 |

Wattage alone does not show which speaker sounds better. Confirm the model name and generation when checking listings: the Blast 2’s output and rating should not be attributed to the original Blast. Tribit’s lineup guide compares StormBox Blast and Blast 2.

Who should consider the original Blast?
- Consider it if party-oriented lighting, XBass, Bluetooth playback and a handle matter more than light weight, and the published features fit your plans.
- Look more closely at alternatives if you need a speakerphone, regularly carry a speaker long distances, or need protection beyond the IPX7 claim.
- Check the generation if you are comparing it with the Blast 2; the newer model has different manufacturer-listed output and ingress specifications.
Tribit’s Japan page reports a VGP 2023 Gold Award, but that attribution is not a performance measurement. Price and current availability are not established here, so check the seller’s current listing before deciding. RTINGS’ product overview independently notes the handle, RGB lighting and IPX7 rating.
