The Tribit StormBox Blast 2 is a large, feature-rich Bluetooth party speaker best suited to gatherings where strong bass, karaoke inputs and outdoor durability matter more than easy carrying. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer praised its forceful bass but found the mids and treble less clear by comparison. At nearly 19 pounds, it is better thought of as a speaker to bring to a party than one to carry around all day.

What the StormBox Blast 2 offers

Tribit’s US product listing, accessed in 2026, priced the Blast 2 at $299.99. The manufacturer describes it as a 2.1-channel design with an 80 W subwoofer, two 45 W mid-range drivers, two 15 W silk-dome tweeters, dual passive radiators and two TI amplifiers. Tribit rates output at 200 W on AC power and 180 W on battery; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Specification Tribit’s listing
Bluetooth Bluetooth 5.4; A2DP and AVRCP
Battery capacity 79.92 Wh
Water and dust protection IP67
Weight 15.76 lb on Tribit’s listing
Frequency response 40 Hz–20 kHz, per Tribit
Wireless distance 164 feet, a manufacturer claim
Inputs and pairing Auxiliary input, two 6.35 mm microphone inputs, stereo pairing and party mode, according to Tribit

There is a discrepancy worth knowing about before buying: Tribit lists the speaker at 15.76 pounds, while Tom’s Guide gives 19.2 pounds and dimensions of 18.8 × 10.2 × 7.6 inches. Since the independent review describes handling a roughly 19-pound unit, plan for a substantial carry rather than assuming the lighter figure represents the complete carrying weight.

How it sounds

Tom’s Guide’s reviewer reported a strong bass presentation that suited danceable music and party playback. The reviewer found the mids and treble less clear by comparison, so listeners who prioritize vocal nuance or detail across the frequency range may prefer a more balanced-sounding speaker. These are subjective listening impressions, not lab findings.

The Blast 2’s stated output and bass-forward presentation make it a plausible fit for a lively gathering or open outdoor space. But high output does not make it a compact travel speaker, and the reviewer found its weight burdensome when carrying it around a park. It is more convenient when it can stay in one spot once set up.

Battery life: the 30-hour figure has conditions

Tribit advertises up to 30 hours of playback at 50% volume with XBass and the lights off. Treat that as a conditional manufacturer claim, not a promise for loud playback with every feature enabled.

In Tom’s Guide’s reported use, about five hours of listening with the reviewer’s preferred lights and X-Bass settings left 70% battery. The reviewer estimated around 16 hours in that configuration. That is one hands-on observation, not a standardized test or a guarantee of runtime for other listeners; volume, lighting and bass settings all affect battery use.

Tribit estimates charging at about five hours on AC power or about 12 hours over USB-C. Those are manufacturer figures, and the longer USB-C estimate is relevant if you expect to recharge between gatherings using that connection.

Party features and setup considerations

Karaoke inputs

Tribit says the speaker has two microphone inputs that accept a 6.35 mm plug. That gives karaoke users a wired-microphone option, but the available information does not establish that a microphone is included in every bundle. Check the specific listing’s package contents before ordering accessories. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer did not test karaoke because they did not have suitable microphones.

Bluetooth, auxiliary input and speaker pairing

Tribit lists Bluetooth 5.4 and an auxiliary input. Its description says stereo pairing divides left and right channels between two speakers, while party mode plays the same audio on both. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer did not test TWS pairing, so those functions should be understood as manufacturer-described features rather than independently confirmed results from that review.

It boosts output from 90W to a thundering 120W peak – a 33% increase – while hitting 110dB SPL. Fill backyards, garages, and outdoor parties with clean, powerful sound. This bluetooth speaker delivers room-filling volume without losing clarity. A true portable speaker that moves air – perfect for camping essentials or beach essentials. (* 120W/110dB are peak lab measurements; actual output varies with volume and content.)
  • 2+2 Stereo Driver Array + 30° Tilt Design – Wider Sweet Spot, Better Imaging: As speakers bluetooth wireless go, the D10 stands out: dual 45W woofers for deep, punchy lows and dual 15W tweeters for crisp, detailed highs. A smart crossover network seamlessly blends frequencies so nothing gets muddy. Plus, the simple 30° tilt design lets you angle the speaker upward on any flat surface – no stand needed. This directs sound toward your ears instead of the ground, dramatically widening the optimal listening area whether you're seated or standing. Flat or tilted, you choose
  • Hi‑Fi DSP & Dual Passive Radiators – Deep Bass, Zero Port Noise: The built‑in DSP chip continuously balances frequencies to prevent distortion even at max volume. Two oversized passive radiators move more air than traditional ports, delivering rumbling low end without the annoying “chuffing” port noise found on cheaper speaker designs. The result: cleaner bass, richer mids, and fatigue‑free listening all day long. Perfect for critical listening or casual background music
  • 240W Stereo Pairing & 2 EQ Modes – Bass Boost for Extra Punch: Wirelessly link two D10 units to unlock a 240W peak stereo system – perfect for movie nights, BBQs, or any party where you need powerful, immersive sound. Two onboard EQ modes let you tailor the audio instantly: choose Bass Boost for thumping low‑end energy, or switch to Standard mode for a more balanced frequency response. Press a button to toggle between them – no app required. A great idea for fathers day gifts or summer stuff that keeps the party going
  • Upgraded Bluetooth 5.4 + AUX + TF Card – Universal Playback & Hands‑Free: Bluetooth 5.4 delivers faster pairing, extended range, and a rock‑stable connection – a major upgrade over older versions. No Bluetooth? Use the AUX‑in port for wired devices like laptops or TVs. Also supports TF card playback (MP3/WAV) – just insert a memory card and play directly. Built‑in mic supports hands‑free calls and voice assistants ("Hey Siri" / "OK Google"). Total connectivity for any situation. Whether you need a blue tooth speaker for home or a portable speaker bluetooth for travel, this covers it

Lighting and outdoor use

The speaker has customizable lighting through the Tribit app, according to Tom’s Guide, and Tribit lists lighting controls on its product page. App menus and behavior may change with software updates, so consult the current app and speaker instructions for setup. The IP67 rating is useful for water- and dust-resistant outdoor use, but it does not reduce the speaker’s carrying burden.

Is it worth the extra $100 over the original Blast?

Tribit’s own comparison page lists the Blast 2 at $299.99 and the original Blast at $199.99, a $100 difference in that manufacturer comparison. It also lists the newer model as heavier and more powerful, with karaoke inputs and a different water-resistance rating.

Feature StormBox Blast 2 Original StormBox Blast
Price in Tribit’s comparison $299.99 $199.99
Output in Tribit’s comparison 200 W AC / 180 W battery 90 W
Approximate weight in Tribit’s comparison About 19 lb About 12 lb
Bluetooth 5.4 5.3
Microphone inputs Two 6.35 mm inputs None listed
Water-resistance rating IP67 IPX7

These are figures from Tribit’s comparison, not an independent head-to-head test, and prices or availability can change. The extra cost is easier to justify if you want the newer model’s higher stated output and karaoke inputs for parties. If lower weight and price matter more, the original’s listed specifications may be a better fit.

Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?

  • Consider it if you want a large party speaker with a bass-forward sound, lighting, outdoor-rated construction and microphone inputs.
  • Think twice if you need a speaker that is comfortable to carry over long distances, or if clear mids and treble matter more to you than emphatic bass.
  • Set expectations around battery life: the maximum claim assumes moderate volume with XBass and lighting off, while feature-heavy use can reduce runtime.

Tom’s Guide names the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus and JBL Boombox 3 as alternatives at lower and higher price points, respectively, in its review context. Those prices may no longer be current. Compare current listings by budget, sound preferences, weight, durability and whether you need karaoke support rather than relying on an older price comparison.
