If Trezor Suite cannot see your device on Windows 10 or 11, start with the USB cable and port, then check Windows’ driver and any software that could interfere. A device lighting up only confirms it receives power; it does not prove the cable carries data. Follow the checks in order, and do not factory-reset the wallet as a first-line fix.
1. Check the USB cable, connection, and port
Disconnect and reconnect both ends of the cable, making sure the Trezor is plugged directly into the computer. Try another USB port and a known-good cable that fits your model and supports data transfer. Trezor says changing the cable resolves connectivity issues “most of the time”; that is qualitative guidance, not a measured success rate. Trezor’s device-detection troubleshooting also recommends trying another cable or computer for USB-related problems.
- A lit screen does not establish that the USB data connection works.
- A charging-only cable can power the device without allowing Suite to communicate with it.
- Avoid hubs or adapters while testing if you can connect directly.
2. Confirm the app and Windows version
Trezor lists Windows 10 or newer as supported. Its installation guide specifies Windows 10 64-bit or newer and says the same installer works on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Download the desktop app from Trezor’s official Windows installation guide or the GitHub repository linked there; do not use third-party download mirrors.
If you use Suite in a browser rather than the desktop app, browser support is a separate consideration: Trezor says Chromium-based browsers are supported and recommends Chrome, while Firefox and Safari are unsupported because of WebUSB limitations. 3. Follow Trezor’s Windows driver procedure
If Windows still does not recognize the device, Trezor documents a procedure using Zadig. It requires connecting the device in bootloader mode and carefully selecting the relevant device and driver. Because this changes a system driver, do not guess which entry to modify or install a driver from an unofficial source.
- Open Trezor’s current device-detection instructions and follow its steps to connect your Trezor in bootloader mode.
- In Zadig, enable the option to show all devices, then select the relevant unknown device exactly as the Trezor instructions specify.
- Select
libusb0 (v1.2.6.0)and use the install or replace option specified by Trezor. - Restart the computer, reconnect the device, and open Suite again.
4. Check for VPN, security software, or extension interference
Only after checking the physical connection and driver, test whether a VPN, certain advanced firewall or antivirus settings, or browser extensions such as ad blockers are blocking communication. Trezor advises trying these checks and whitelisting Suite where appropriate. Make changes temporarily and narrowly: restore protections after the test, and do not leave your firewall or antivirus disabled as a workaround.

5. Check the legacy Model One firmware exception
Trezor’s troubleshooting guidance identifies a version-specific issue for a Model One running firmware 1.7.0 or older. For that case, it directs users to use Suite 25.1.2 to connect and update the device firmware, then update Suite to the latest release. This is not a general Windows fix: use it only if your device and firmware match, and check the official instructions for the current supported steps rather than substituting an unverified installer.

6. Test another computer, then contact support
Try connecting the device to another computer, preferably one running a different supported operating system. If it works there, the issue is more likely related to the original computer’s USB setup, driver, or software. If Suite still cannot detect it after the documented checks, contact Trezor Support for device-specific help.

Protect your wallet while troubleshooting
Do not share your wallet backup, PIN, or passphrase with anyone as part of a connection fix. A factory reset is not a routine detection step: Trezor says it completely erases the device, including firmware and private keys stored on it. Its hardware troubleshooting guidance says to ensure you have a safe wallet backup before resetting. Do not reset unless an applicable official procedure calls for it and your backup is safely available.
