TP-Link’s “new” Wi-Fi 7 gear for homes and outdoor spaces was announced on May 20, 2025—not September 2026. The consumer range is led by the Deco BE68 whole-home mesh system, Deco BE65-Outdoor weather-resistant mesh unit and Archer BE600 router. TP-Link also announced the Omada EAP772-Outdoor, but that is a separately managed access point for small businesses and advanced home networks.

What TP-Link announced

The May 20, 2025 announcement described a refreshed collection of Wi-Fi 7 routers and mesh systems. TP-Link’s headline models target different installations: a conventional single-router home, a multi-node indoor mesh, or Wi-Fi coverage that extends into a yard, patio or other exposed area.

All throughput and coverage numbers below are TP-Link specifications. They are not independent tests or guarantees for every building, client device or internet connection.

Archer BE600 Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router 9.7 Gbps 10G wired speeds A single-router installation or a smaller home

TP-Link describes the BE65-Outdoor as “the world’s first home Wi-Fi 7 outdoor mesh” and calls the lineup “best-in-class value and premium performance.” Those are company promotional claims, not independently verified rankings.

Deco BE65-Outdoor: the outdoor consumer option

The BE65-Outdoor is designed to operate outside rather than placing an ordinary indoor node in a box or under an awning. Its IP65 enclosure is intended to resist dust and water jets, but the rating does not mean submersion is safe. Mount and power it according to TP-Link’s installation guidance and keep connectors, cable runs and PoE equipment appropriate for the environment.

Why the PoE ports matter

Each of the two 2.5 Gbps ports supports PoE+ according to TP-Link. That can simplify a remote installation by carrying power and data over one Ethernet cable from a compatible PoE+ switch or injector. If you do not have PoE infrastructure, budget for compatible power equipment and a suitable protected electrical location.

Outdoor placement limits

The advertised 3,000-square-foot coverage is a vendor estimate. Walls, glass, foliage, neighboring networks, mounting height and the distance to the indoor mesh node can reduce usable performance. A wired Ethernet backhaul is generally preferable where you can run cable; a wireless backhaul consumes radio capacity and depends on a strong link to the rest of the mesh.

Deco BE68: indoor whole-home mesh

The BE68 announcement covers an all-new three-pack tri-band system with up to 14 Gbps of combined Wi-Fi speed, 10G wired connectivity and coverage up to 8,100 square feet, all as stated by TP-Link. A three-pack can help distribute radios across multiple floors or separated rooms, but the correct node count depends on the building and where Ethernet can be installed.

Use wired backhaul when possible, especially for a high-speed NAS, workstation or multi-gigabit internet service. “Up to” figures combine radio bands and ideal link conditions; a single client normally connects at a lower negotiated rate.

Archer BE600: one main router

The Archer BE600 is the straightforward choice when you want one tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router rather than a Deco-managed mesh. TP-Link lists 9.7 Gbps of Wi-Fi capacity and 10G wired speeds. It avoids the cost and placement decisions of multiple nodes, but one access point may not reach distant rooms or an outdoor area reliably.

Do not confuse Deco with Omada EAP772-Outdoor

The Omada EAP772-Outdoor is a separate Wi-Fi 7 access point announced for small and medium businesses, network administrators and technically advanced home labs. TP-Link lists up to 11 Gbps and coverage up to 3,200 square feet with full 6 GHz coverage. It is not simply a Deco node with a different name.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Omada deployments use a managed access-point architecture. They can suit a wired network with a router, switch, VLANs and centralized management, whereas Deco is aimed at a consumer mesh experience. The 2026 Omada flyer covers additional indoor and outdoor access points, notes that availability varies by region, and says AFC functionality on some listed equipment may require a future firmware update.

How to choose the right architecture

Choose Deco BE65-Outdoor when

  • You already use, or plan to use, a compatible Deco mesh.
  • You need a purpose-built outdoor node rather than an indoor unit exposed to weather.
  • You can provide Ethernet backhaul or compatible PoE+ power at the mounting location.

Choose Deco BE68 when

  • Your priority is coordinated indoor coverage across a large or multi-level home.
  • You have, or may add, 10G wired devices and Ethernet between nodes.
  • You prefer a consumer mesh system over a separately managed access-point network.

Choose Archer BE600 when

  • A single central router can cover the home.
  • You want 10G wired connectivity without buying a multi-node kit.
  • You do not need Deco’s whole-home mesh management.

Choose Omada EAP772-Outdoor when

  • You are comfortable designing a wired, managed network.
  • You need business-style access-point controls, segmentation or centralized administration.
  • You accept that regional stock and feature support can differ from consumer Deco products.

TP-Link’s release uses several labels—including BE65-Outdoor, BE11000, BE67 and BE68—for products or retailer configurations. Verify the exact model number, hardware package, firmware support, regional 6 GHz rules and current stock before ordering.

Installation checklist

  1. Map the property. Mark dead zones, outdoor areas, Ethernet runs and the location of your internet handoff.
  2. Decide on backhaul. Use Ethernet for the most predictable multi-gigabit performance; use wireless mesh links only where the inter-node signal is strong.
  3. Check power. For BE65-Outdoor, confirm a compatible PoE+ switch or injector, cable route and weather-protected terminations.
  4. Place nodes carefully. Start with clear, elevated positions and avoid metal enclosures, thick masonry and appliances that create interference.
  5. Validate the result. Test each room and outdoor area with the devices and internet plan you actually use; do not treat the box’s aggregate Gbps figure as a client speed guarantee.
  6. Update firmware and review regional features. 6 GHz and AFC operation can depend on local rules, hardware revision and firmware.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you

  • Higher aggregate Gbps does not guarantee faster downloads on one phone or laptop.
  • Advertised square footage does not account for every wall, floor, material or neighboring network.
  • Wi-Fi 7 benefits require compatible clients; older Wi-Fi devices can still connect but will not use every Wi-Fi 7 feature.
  • 10G or 2.5G ports help only when the modem, switch, cabling and client are also capable of those speeds.
  • No official launch source provides independent comparative tests of throughput, range or reliability.

The Bottom Line

For a consumer outdoor extension, Deco BE65-Outdoor is the relevant TP-Link option; BE68 targets large indoor mesh deployments, and Archer BE600 suits a single-router home. Omada EAP772-Outdoor belongs to a managed access-point system, not the Deco range. Treat every speed, coverage and launch-price figure as a dated TP-Link claim, and confirm the exact regional model and current availability before buying.
