TP-Link’s lower-priced Wi-Fi 7 lineup gives U.S. buyers a choice between a standalone router and two mesh systems—but all three are dual-band and omit 6 GHz. The right pick depends less on the Wi-Fi 7 label than on whether you need mesh coverage, multi-gig wired ports, and speeds your internet plan and devices can actually use.
What TP-Link announced—and what “disrupt” means
On November 19, 2024, TP-Link announced three more affordable Wi-Fi 7 products for the U.S.: the Archer BE3600 router, Deco BE3600 mesh system, and Deco BE5000 mesh system. “Market-disrupting” was TP-Link’s positioning, not a demonstrated market-wide result. The announcement said the Archer BE3600 would be available through Amazon and Walmart starting at $99.99; that is a historical launch price, not a verified current price or stock status. The practical distinction is straightforward: Archer is one router, while Deco is a multi-node mesh approach for distributing coverage across a home. None of these models has a 6 GHz radio, despite being Wi-Fi 7 products.

| Deco BE5000 | Mesh system | Dual-band Wi-Fi 7; up to 5 Gbps total Wi-Fi class; 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports. TP-Link’s current U.S. page claims coverage up to 6,600 sq. ft. TP-Link U.S. product page | You want mesh and multi-gig wired ports or a higher-rated Wi-Fi class. |
What dual-band Wi-Fi 7 means here
These models use 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, not 6 GHz. Wi-Fi 7 does not automatically mean a device has a 6 GHz radio; buyers who specifically want that band should check the full specifications of each model rather than relying on the Wi-Fi generation or BE class name.

The Archer BE3600’s 2,882 Mbps (5 GHz) and 688 Mbps (2.4 GHz) are rated wireless link figures, not promised internet speeds or a single device’s expected throughput. The bands’ rated figures should not be added and treated as a guaranteed speed test result. Actual performance varies with the client device, network conditions, building materials, obstacles, traffic, and placement, as TP-Link notes on its Archer product page. TP-Link’s coverage figures for the Deco systems are also manufacturer claims, not independent measurements.
Choose by home layout and wired speed
Choose Archer BE3600 for a one-router setup
If one well-placed router can serve your home, the Archer BE3600 offers a 2.5 Gbps WAN port and a separate 2.5 Gbps LAN port, plus three gigabit LAN ports. That mix can suit a multi-gig internet connection or a fast wired device, provided the modem, service plan, and connected equipment also support the required speed. It is EasyMesh compatible, but its basic role is still a standalone router.

Choose a Deco system when you need distributed coverage
A mesh kit uses multiple nodes to extend Wi-Fi through a larger or more divided home. The Deco BE3600’s 1 Gbps WAN/LAN ports are a key constraint if you intend to connect it to internet service or wired equipment faster than gigabit. The BE5000’s 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports offer more wired headroom. For either system, the best node count and placement depend on the floor plan and obstacles; the claimed coverage area alone cannot guarantee signal quality in a particular home.
Match ports to the slowest part of the connection
A 2.5 Gbps port does not make an internet plan faster by itself. The service, modem or gateway, router port, Ethernet cabling, and client device all need to support the speed you expect. Conversely, if your service and wired devices are gigabit or slower, paying for multi-gig ports may provide little immediate benefit.

What to check before buying
- Band: None of these three models provides 6 GHz. Choose based on the bands you actually need.
- Router or mesh: A standalone router is simpler when one placement works; mesh is intended to distribute coverage with multiple nodes.
- Ports: Compare the router’s WAN and LAN speeds with your service plan and wired devices, not just its wireless class.
- Coverage claims: Deco coverage figures are TP-Link estimates; actual results depend on the home and setup.
- Current price and availability: Verify with retailers. TP-Link’s $99.99 Archer figure was its November 2024 launch statement, not a current quote.
Are these worth considering for Wi-Fi 7?
Yes, if your priority is entry into Wi-Fi 7 with a dual-band router or mesh setup and the missing 6 GHz band is acceptable. The Archer BE3600 is the one-router option; the Deco BE3600 and BE5000 are mesh alternatives, with the BE5000 offering 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports where the BE3600 is listed with gigabit ports. No independent performance test of these models is established here, so rated speeds and coverage claims should not be read as real-world guarantees.
