The TP-Link Omada SX3832MPP is a managed switch for networks that need 10G-capable PoE++ copper access ports: it has 24 multi-gigabit RJ45 ports, eight SFP+ slots, and a manufacturer-rated 770 W total PoE budget. Those specifications make it worth considering for compatible access points and other powered devices, but they are not a substitute for independent testing. I could not verify hands-on results for this exact model, so noise, heat, reliability, setup experience, and real-world performance remain unestablished.

What the SX3832MPP offers

The SX3832MPP combines high-speed copper access with fiber or transceiver uplinks in a managed, rack-mountable switch. TP-Link lists these port speeds and headline figures:

Feature TP-Link specification
RJ45 ports 24 ports supporting 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps, and 10 Gbps
SFP+ slots 8 slots supporting 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps
Switching capacity 640 Gbps
Packet forwarding rate 240 Mpps
MAC address table 32K entries
Packet buffer 24 Mbit
Jumbo frame 9 KB

These are vendor specifications, not independent measurements. The listed port speeds also do not mean every connected device will link at 10 Gbps: the endpoint, cabling, configuration, and link partner must support the desired speed. See TP-Link’s SX3832MPP product specifications for the manufacturer’s full feature list.

How much PoE power can it supply?

TP-Link specifies IEEE 802.3af/at/bt compatibility, up to 90 W from an individual PoE++ port, and a total PoE budget of 770 W. The company cautions that the available budget can vary with connected-client limits and environmental conditions; treat those figures as maximum specifications, not a promise that every installation can draw the full amount continuously.

#1 Best Overall
SX3832MPP Omada 32-Port 10GE L2+ Managed Switch with 24-Port PoE++
  • 24× 1/2.5/5/10 Gbps RJ45 PoE++ ports
  • 8× 1/10 Gbps SFP+ slots
  • 770 W total PoE budget*, up to 90 W PoE out per port**
  • Centralized cloud management via the web or the Omada app
  • Standalone management via web, CLI, SNMP, and RMON

Before buying, check both the PoE standard and expected draw for every powered endpoint. Add the expected loads to see whether they fit within the aggregate budget, and verify that no device exceeds the per-port limit. Passive PoE and other non-standard PoE are unsupported, so do not connect a device that depends on those power methods.

Which SFP+ modules are supported?

The SFP+ slots support 1G and 10G connections, but module choice matters. TP-Link says the switch supports no more than two of its SM5310-T 10G RJ45 SFP+ modules and recommends leaving one column interval between any two of them. If you need copper connections through SFP+ slots, plan around that limit rather than assuming all eight slots can use RJ45 modules. Confirm the required media, link speed, and distance for each uplink, then check the manufacturer’s compatibility notes.

Omada SX3016F, 16 Port 10G SFP+ Enterprise Level L2+ Managed Switch
  • 【10G Lightning-Fast Connections】16× 10 Gbps SFP+ Ports enable high-bandwidth connectivity and non-blocking switching capacity.
  • 【Integrated into Omada SDN】Omada's Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform integrates network devices including switches, access points & gateways with multiple control options offered - Omada Hardware controller, Omada Software Controller or Omada Cloud-based controller*(Contact TP-Link for Cloud-based controller plan details). Standalone mode also applies.
  • 【Cloud Access】Remote cloud access and Omada app brings centralized cloud management of the whole network at different sites-all controlled from a single interface anywhere, anytime.
  • 【SDN Compatibility】For SDN usage, make sure your devices/controllers are either equipped with or can be upgraded to SDN version. SDN controllers work only with SDN switches, access points & gateways. Non-SDN controllers work only with non-SDN access points. For devices that are compatible with SDN firmware, please visit TP-Link website.
  • 【Enhance Network Security】Advanced security features include 802.1Q VLAN, IP-MAC-Port binding, ACL, Port Security, DoS defend, Storm control, DHCP Snooping, 802.1X radius authentication and more.

How can you manage the switch?

TP-Link lists standalone web, CLI, SNMP, and RMON management, as well as centralized management through an Omada Controller. The distinction matters: the product page says controller-dependent features require an Omada Controller. Zero-Touch Provisioning specifically requires Omada Cloud Standard or Cloud Essentials. Confirm that the management method and controller features your deployment needs are available in the Omada setup you intend to use.

Installation, power, and operating environment

The product is rack-mountable, measures 440 × 330 × 44 mm, and has four fans, according to TP-Link. Those facts help with rack planning, but they do not establish how loud or hot the switch will be in your installation.

  • 16-PORT GIGABIT PoE+: Provides 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+ (802.3af/at) compliance, powering IP cameras, access points, and VoIP phones through a single cable
  • 150W PoE BUDGET: Generous 150W total power budget delivers up to 30W per port, supporting a wide range of PoE-powered devices across your network infrastructure
  • EXTENDED 250M PoE DISTANCE: Reach up to 250 meters for PoE transmission in Extend Mode, ideal for long-distance deployments in warehouses, campuses, and large facilities
  • EASY MANAGED WITH VLAN: Simple centralized management with VLAN support for network segmentation, traffic isolation, and enhanced security between departments or devices
  • AUTO RECOVERY & LOOP PREVENTION: Built-in auto recovery reboots unresponsive PoE devices automatically, while loop prevention ensures network stability and uptime

TP-Link lists maximum power consumption under a full 770 W powered-device load as 1,010.2 W at 110 V / 60 Hz or 953.7 W at 220 V / 50 Hz. These are specified high-load figures, not typical-use measurements. Allow for the switch’s power and cooling needs, confirm rack depth and airflow, and consider the operating environment before deployment. Independent fan-noise and thermal results for this exact model were not established.

What is not established by a hands-on review?

The available evidence supports a specification-based assessment, not a tested verdict. A TechRadar review covers another Omada switch and mentions the SX3832MPP; it is not a review of this model. A Reddit post asks whether SX3832 reviews exist, but does not provide performance evidence. Neither source establishes throughput under load, noise, temperatures, reliability, setup quality, or value for the SX3832MPP. See the TechRadar SG3218XP-M2 review and the Reddit discussion for that context.

Who should consider the SX3832MPP?

It is a plausible candidate when a network needs many multi-gigabit or 10G copper access ports, high-power PoE for compatible endpoints, and SFP+ uplinks in a managed rack switch. It is less compelling if the connected devices do not need those speeds or power levels, or if a simpler switch would meet the deployment’s requirements. Compare the full system cost—not just the switch—including suitable endpoints, SFP+ optics or modules, the chosen controller arrangement, and the power and cooling provision.
